Well, last time I had this tea, I was all Throw Moma From The Train, but now I can’t get “Jump!” by Kriss Kross out of my head. Hmm.

Anyhoo, this is my other coldbrew for the day and it makes me sad because it’s so tasty and River Teas is no more. I think I’m still in mourning. They were so unique! I just wish I knew what happened there.

Anyway, the tea is lovely. It’s a lighter green than the Pomegranate Dragonfruit I had earlier today and I like it a lot better. I don’t just taste random fruitiness, I definitely taste pineapple and cranberry, but they don’t overwhelm the green tea either. It’s just a perfectly balanced blend.

RIVER TEAS COME BACK I MISS YOU.

I was just about to say….kris cross will make you Jump! As soon as I saw the tea name

I feel you aisling; I still don’t feel any sense of closure about the whole thing :(

Today’s work cold brew. This one had been in my desk drawer for a while, and while I’ve enjoyed drinking it hot this past winter, I feel like I’m done with that method of preparation now. My last cup was a little underwhelming, with less of the cranberry I’ve come to expect. Probably it’s getting a little old.

Anyway, cold brewing gave it a new lease of life, and also used up the last of the leaf, so a win either way. I used 2 tbsp of leaf in 2 litres of cold water, and it overnighted in the fridge for around 10 hours. This morning’s result is a pale-ish straw colour, which completely belies the fact that it has tons of flavour. I’m getting lots of cranberry again, and there’s an underlying juicy sweetness that reminds me a lot of pineapple (which I’m sure I’ve never tasted much in this blend before). It helps to cut some of the tartness/sourness from the cranberry, anyway. The green tea base is very subtle and smooth, with no bitterness or astringency (which is always my biggest worry when I cold brew green tea overnight).

I’m really pleased with how this one worked out, and it seems like a fitting way to say goodbye to a thoroughly lovely blend.

Lewis & Clarke TTB

Cranberry pineapple? Sounds like the tea of Roswell Strange’s dreams! :P The green tea in here is quite dark, I’m unsure what type it is. This tea smells awesome! Tart and fruity with a little bit of candy sugary scent. My teaspoon had a big piece of cranberry and couple little candied pineapple chunks. The cranberry re-hydrated during the steep and got huge! It made me laugh a little bit.

Once brewed, the aroma is a mixture of buttery, vegetal green tea and tart fruit, specifically cranberry and pineapple. The taste is actually a nice balance of green tea and flavor, hooray! The green tea itself is nice and mild and sweetly vegetal. I can taste the pineapple intermingling with the tea throughout the sip, and the cranberry comes in near the end a bit. There is a tiny bit of that chalky powdered sugar taste here, which is unfortunate. I think my tongue just doesn’t approve of flavored tea now, heh! This one is pretty good though!

Thank you Dexter3657 for sharing this with me. I don’t even remember putting it on my wishlist but I am glad I got to try it. It is a nice enough tea to sip on every now and then. It has a great berry flavor mixed with a smooth, slightly vegetal green base. Very pleasant but not something I would stock. Nonetheless, I am glad I got the opportunity to try it and I am happy I have one more cup worth of leaf left. Thanks Dexter!

criss cross will make you jump?

MissB

jump! (I used to have a roommate at UQTR that wore her clothes on backwards because of this song).

VariaTEA

That song was introduced to the world before I was :P

MissB

Yes, well… I’m old. :P

VariaTEA

Haha, it only predates me by about a month though.

Sil

MissB clearly we both are ;) I feel sad for generations of younger folk who missed out on wearing clothes backwards…. Instead they have…..twerking? Ew

Did I not review this last time I drank it? Because this is definitely the second time I’ve drunk this since we got our big RiverTea order.

I love this tea! Green blends not based on sencha are my happy place. The dried cranberries look gigantic and like if you don’t get one, you won’t get any berry flavour, but that is definitely not the case. This is just delicious. Light and fruity with a nice smoky base.
