Have you ever dreamt of a lifelong barefoot party on a white Pacific beach? Bring that dream a little closer with this Rooibos Tropical Dream blend. Thank you so much Scheherazade for the sample; I honestly believed I’d probably never get to try another new RiverTea blend, and this was a delightful surprise from your swap package!
I cold brewed my sample, and then took it to work to drink without having read the ingredients prior – I wanted to do a true blind tasting of it. I’ll admit it was very hard to reach a conclusion for what the flavor was though; mostly I tasted super sweet vanilla and the woody rooibos base and even a little bit of a medicinal note; the fruit flavours itself were so muddled and generic. I couldn’t even use the dry leaf to help guess because the only ‘fruit pieces’ were little cubes of candied fruit that could have been a ton of different fruits.
I finished off all 25 oz. and I did enjoy it; the flavour was nice even if it wasn’t all that distinct. My final guess probably would have been vanilla, mango, papaya and possibly peach. I’ve now looked at the ingredients and I got 3/5 – Vanilla, Mango, and Papaya. The ones I missed were coconut and pineapple; and thinking back I can sort of see how the coconut would have merged in with the vanilla and been subtly present but I definitely don’t think there was any presence of pineapple flavour.
Overall, I liked this but didn’t love it. However, I’m still so, so grateful I got to try it because RiverTea was one of my favourite companies and I definitely wanted to be able to try as many of their blends as possible.

I really like this! Thank you Sil for sharing as this is one I overlooked each time I checked RiverTea’s site (which is often). I imagined it would be more Pina Coladaesque I suppose, or maybe I feared the coconut might get a bit lotiony like it tends to do in rooibos teas but this is just a nice, juicy, tropical tea. Very, very good.
I have to admit I was somewhat disappointed with Rivertea. I guess my hopes were too high, I was so excited when they arrived. But out of the massive bunch I got, there are still a few that could be worth reordering. Too bas cause I love their presentation and all the info they provide for each tea.
I like the fruit teas they have a lot… but chocolate flavouring doesn’t sit with me.. one of the straight teas i wasn’t fond of… I have more to go through but there are some wins. It’s just figuring out which ones are the wins. For me, they seem to do well with the no caffeine ones, so i’ll likely stock up on those for summer “juice” :)
I’m not always a fan of herbals, but I really liked their banana something (but of course it was only a sample!!!)
I haven’t tried any of their teas. I think I stopped by the website, but nothing really called out, “buy me”, so I didn’t.
