From Simple Loose Leaf

This perfectly balanced blend of subtly sweet cherry and rose hips with tart cranberry and hibiscus make this herbal tea refreshingly delicious and reminiscent of a fun fruit punch drink. Perfect for children and others watching sugar and caffeine; Cranberry Breeze is wonderful hot or iced and is the perfect alternative to sweet caffeinated drinks.

Backlog:

With my subscription to the Selection Club from Simple Loose Leaf, I have thus far always chose the sampler pack. Hey, I’m a taster, and I find the smaller sizes of five teas to be much nicer for my needs than larger sizes of just one or two teas.

I don’t know that if I were choosing just one or two teas for the month of April, that I would have selected this tea, because generally speaking, herbal tisanes like this (with lots of hibiscus) are not my favorites.

That said, this is a pretty good tisane, and I found that the hibiscus and cranberry seemed to marry much better than some other berries with hibiscus. They are both tarty type of flavors and they meld together in a seamless way.

I liked this better iced than hot. It’s a tasty tisane. Not my favorite, but they can’t all be my favorites, and I liked it enough to not only finish the hot cup when I reviewed it, but also enough to brew a full half-gallon pitcher to enjoy iced the next day.

When I first banned juice from the house I looked for options that might be a good compromise for me on the occasions I wanted juice with breakfast or brunch. I discovered fruit based herbal blends early on in my search for a juice replacement, but most of the blends I’ve tried haven’t appealed to me. They tend to be incredibly tart and more often than not I end up adding sugar to them, which in my mind completely negates the healthy aspects of drinking them in the first place. Because of my previous experiences with fruit based herbal blends I did not have high expectations for this one, but it’s another blend that left me pleasantly surprised. I expected this to be fairly tart since it contains rose hips, hibiscus and cranberries, but the cherry flavoring adds a bit of sweetness that balances out the tartness nicely.

I quite like this tea. I think it’s really balanced and very tasty. I’m thinking about saving the rest of this for in TTBs I’ve got coming my way, since I need something good to be able to put in the box. I’m torn.
