I thought the ingredient combo sounded odd but it works! It is a little savory from the tulsi and I suppose the aroma could come off as medicinal, but as an evening option when I must stick with no caffeine this is very pleasant and drinkable. Ashman drank it and liked it as well.

No tulsi tea holds a candle to Bellocq’s Ashram Afternoon for me, but this one is very nice and I wouldn’t turn a cup down.

This is a flavour profile I haven’t come across often, and I felt it was quite refreshing. The tulsi combines nicely with distinct notes of orange and ginger, but the cranberry is less prominent. It does also contain rosehips and hibiscus, which gives it that classic “Zinger” flavour profile, but the tulsi gives it an interesting twist. If you don’t like a zesty, citrusy tisane or a tulsi-forward blend, this would probably not be for you. I found it a nice option that was different from the usual generic “wellness” tisane blends, but it did not lend itself well to multiple steepings.

S&V Advent Day 18!
Tulsi is the strongest flavor, and it’s just too savory for me. I really don’t get any of the other things in here other than that herbaceous tulsi and maybe a hint of something fruity. This is just too unbalanced for me.

Simpson & Vail Advent 2025 – Day #18

Another that I have never tried yet. An interesting herbal blend… I do miss fresh tulsi blends. Here it is subtle, but so is the resulting flavor from all the other ingredients. Mildly citrusy and tart. Fruity, naturally sweet. A bit of that green bean flavor from the tulsi. The hibiscus was NOT noticeable, so grateful for that anyway… Not bad, but nothing fantastic. An oddly small amount was in this advent sample, I personally would have used at least half a teaspoon more, so maybe that is why the flavor is lighter here.
Steep #1 // 1 heaping teaspoon for a full mug // 23 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 6 minute steep

Sip Down

The first and second cups of this tea left me satisfied with bursting flavors of cranberry and citrus. However, the last cup was overly medicinal and bitter. One thing I’ve noted on the bag was that this tea’s brewing instructions _must- be followed; otherwise, anything over the recommended 5-minute steeping time will result in the third cup.

Flavors: Citrus, Cranberry, Medicinal

This one has been on my wishlist for a while! I really need to get around to trying it ha ha, but it’s been a little while since I ordered from S&V.

MadHatterTeaReview

S&V is a dangerous place! They take my money, and I willingly give it to them! Of course, in exchange for tea, which is the biggest win! However, when I’m trying to avoid buying anymore teas, I eventually cave in to that “fake” shopping cart. I’m currently on their monthly tea club and this is definitely a big contender to my caving in. I’ll really enjoy a tea, but I have to hit that $50 mark for free shipping. Ha-ha.

Yeah their shipping is crazy if I recall correctly. I love their National Park series, and so excited that they released an advent calendar this year! I’ve probably tried most of the teas, but still fun!

MadHatterTeaReview

I’ve tried many, but not all. I am tempted to grab their advent calendar, but I’ve made a plan to create one, in hopes to sip down teas that are barely holding on to a single mug or less.

Finally got around to buying some of this after sampling it a while ago. This is a fairly good herbal tea. I can taste the sweetness of the orange, the sour or the cranberry and the tang of the ginger. I’m not entirely sure I can taste the holy basil. Picked this this afternoon because it’s caffeine free. This is a good tea as far as a herbal tea goes. I would always rather be drinking puerh but I really have to try to cut out the caffeine as early as possible.

I brewed this one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water for 5 minutes.
