We have had numerous requests for a lower priced, everyday Darjeeling. Since inexpensive Darjeelings are usually lacking in some aspect or another, we decided to create this blend. Our goal was to provide a solid, flavorful tea by combining comparatively inexpensive but complementary Darjeelings. We then raised the standard one more notch and came up with this year’s NOP Certified Organic blend. The tea may vary slightly from year to year but will always have a typical Second Flush Darjeeling cup character.
Recommendations: Use 1 level tsp. per 6 oz. cup; heat fresh water to a roaring boil; let steep for 3 minutes.

Mittal TeasI still had some of this sample in the drawer and I wanted a nice black tea. This one just tastes like your basic black tea. Not much else. No astringency at all (which is nice). It tastes like an assam to me, rather than a darjeeling.
This tea reminds me of the tea my mom used to give me when I was sick. I should clarify. My mom would always give me black tea when I had a stomach virus. The tea would then almost immediately make me throw up again, but yet my mom never seemed to make the connection and continued to give me black tea and toast every time. Somehow I don’t have bad associations with black tea. Actually have the opposite. When I get a black tea like this it just reminds me of being taken care of.

The liquor is light caramel, and highly transparent. Very pretty. The aroma is quite subtle, hinting ever so slightly towards cinnamon. The flavor is very, very peppery. The first wave of flavor is peppery, the middle notes are peppery, and the finish is peppery. It’s like someone added essence of green bell pepper to my tea. I am not fond of this tea.
I tried it with milk and sugar and without: with is slightly more pallitable, but I have a feeling I won’t be finishing this cup in record time.
