I just can’t seem to get a break today—I put this on to steep before a conference call and by the time I poured it it was no longer hot. Accordingly, I’m not rating this one just yet either.

There’s a nice black tea scent with a hint of caramel in the packet. Stronger tea than caramel. The caramel smells like syrup. This carries through in the aroma of the steeped tea. It’s a medium brown orange tea.

The flavor is fairly light on the caramel, similar to my impression of the vanilla from yesterday. It’s more of a surface flavor than one with richness to it, but it’s definitely caramel and pleasant enough.

Will revisit soon, without interruption (I hope).

ah, surface flavor…don’t you hate that? i always hope for a rich, full-bodied experience where the flavor components are perfectly integrated with the tea. (well, who doesn’t?)
another thing i can’t stand is when the aroma and the flavor are two disparate entities. makes me so. sad.

Agreed. I tend to prefer the flavors that are well-integrated, but I can enjoy a more surface balance as well if the flavors are rich enough and play off against each other well.

good point!

It’s rare that I have black tea. I used to like it a lot more but tastes change. Sometimes I’m sad that I’m not that fond of black tea anymore. It seems that they come in a larger variety of flavors. Some days I try to convince my taste buds to like black tea again if only because I will have more options. I like options.

Well, today was one of those days. Failure. It was drinkable but I found little pleasure in it. It’s smooth and inoffensive but the flavor was one dimensional. and too…oxidized. let’s not mention the caffeine making me feel kind of yuck. The level of enjoyment doesn’t merit the the trouble I go through. I feel so depressing lately.

I’ll stick to herbals for the rest of the day. I’ll pluck some lemon balm from the garden! That should cheer me up. :D I bought one plant a couple years ago and now it’s popping up everywhere uninvited. Eating it is the only way. :)

Thank you Mercuryhime for this deliciousness! So smooth, and no bitterness when I steeped it. Oh man.
Just the right amount of sweetness.. but now I get to join the masses who mourn SpecialTeas :(

I guess it’s kind of evil to show you paradise only to tell you that you’ll never see it again. And they were so affordable! Almost half the price of David’s Teas on many items. Such a massive selection! Sorry I’ll stop now… Glad you liked it! Your profile said you liked caramel. :)

Daisy Chubb

haha but the best kind of Evil my dear n_-
I’m gonna get 6 cups out of the amount of leaf you gave me so that alone is keeping me together :)

Special thanks to Mercuryhime for this one! :)

This smells like caramel candy with a little bit of spice. The taste is pretty nice! It’s like a maltier-caramel, not really a sweet caramel if that makes sense. It’s very bold and has a creamier finish especially for a bolder starting tea.

I enjoy this one! Thanks so much! :)

Mercuryhime

I’m glad someone’s enjoying the black teas I had. :)
