I just got back last night from World Tea Expo in Las Vegas. Though I decided for my own sanity to not try to attempt to track all the various samples of tea or tea infused cocktails that I tried on either the show room floor or restaurants, I still have a handful of tasting notes to log for more “proper” cups of tea that I snuck in throughout the four days…

I’m starting here because this is the tea that I drank on the flight from Montreal to Vegas. I brought a handful of teas with me (mostly bagged) because I knew they’d come in handy for flights and the hotel – and I ended up quite thankful for that. As the cups of hot water on planes are quite small this ended up being a very concentrated little cup of tea, but that juicy and tart punch of acai ended up being a great little second wind for myself for the last leg of the flight.

Hope it was a great trip! (That’d be a bucket list adventure for a lot of us here.)

Looking forward to your trip and tea descriptions!

OOooooh. That sounds amazing!

I am so jealous. I wanted to go so badly!

I live right here in Las Vegas, and wasn’t even aware the Tea Expo thing was going on right now! I have heard about it before, so I guess I was generally aware it is something that happens – As a super tea-nerd I should make a point to go to this event sometime. That would be pretty neat! Sounds like a great experience.

Last time I checked the World Tea Expo is an industry trade show and only available to people who work in the industry, not us regular plebeians.

I figure I might be able to get in under the guise of being a beginning tea seller or aspiring seller. I was kind of toying with the idea of starting a small tea business. Not sure how quickly that will materialize, though.

Oh my god berry. Lots of berry. Overwhelming berry. Berry up front and proud. If you are looking for a berry centered, berry flavor dominated tea, this is it. The berry flavor itself is good, I have to admit. It’s crisp and wet and refreshing, just as it should be. I have a hard time calling this a “tea”, or even a “blended tea”, since there isn’t any actual tea in it, but hey, it still hits the spot. Does the job. Berry well.

Tea 1/6 from the fruit tea sampler I got off of amazon. 6 boxes of tea for $26 or a bit over $4 per box. Not too shabby! I bought these teas with the intention of making pitchers of iced tea.

I decided to cold brew this one. I put 4 tea bags in my 2L pitcher and let it sit in the fridge overnight (about 12 hours?). When I took a sample this morning I was underwhelmed. There isn’t much tartness from the hibiscus (a good thing), but overall it’s pretty weak and the main taste is a slightly bitter aftertaste (maybe from the chicory root? Acai berry?- can’t say I’ve had either or those things before so I’m not really sure).

I’m going to try hot brewing the tea then leaving it to cool in the fridge, or maybe use 2 tea bags of this tea plus 2 of another kind to make it better. Otherwise I will not be repurchasing this tea (which is disappointing because I had high hopes for these Stash teas). Hopefully the other kinds in my collection will be better. So far I have tried 2/5 of the celestial seasonings teas and they were both amazing, which was very surprising as I had low expectations for that brand.

Celestial Seasonings is a good brand

I’m finding that to be very true :)
