From Stash Tea

This festive holiday tea imparts the appeal of a tasty pumpkin pie. A delicious blend of naturally decaffeinated black teas and natural pumpkin spice flavor combines with nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and clove. Add a touch of milk and sugar to complement the luscious flavor.

Psst….I can’t taste what you’re trying to say wee Pumpkin Spice tea!.
Lovely idea, better with milk. But really was passionless.
Feel like I need to try this again but with a different brand.

This is a sample teabag that came in an order about nine months ago.

Ashman is working late at home and feeling peckish, so I made a cheese and cracker plate and thought it was a great time to get rid of these two decaf samples as nice, filling lattes.

Sadly, when I opened the little wrapper the tea (both this one and Cinnamon Vanilla) had a strange and unpleasant aroma. It was a familiar smell, and I think I have decided it is mildew. Like someone threw a wet swimsuit in a hamper and left it and you don’t find out for a week. Ick.

I steeped it strong in just half the water called for and then added sugar and milk and tasted…and added more sugar and some vanilla, because there wasn’t much flavor. The strange smell was nearly gone, although when I tipped the mug back to get the very last of the drink, the smell hit me again. But at least it tasted better than it smelled.

Maybe it is just an off night for my taste buds or something, but this was very non-spectacular. We would have been better off having a cup of hot milk and adding our own spices.

This is tea 10/50 I bought in a Stash Assortment. Too weak for me to enjoy.

My absolutely wonderful coworker brought me a box of this along with some delicious pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I feel so lucky! I’d say this is one of my less favorite Stash flavors. The black tea is quite light, and it tastes a little artificial. Basically it tastes similar to many weak bagged teas. The spices are quite muted. Not that bagged teas are always bad, but maybe you know the flavor feeling I’m talking about.

From TTB 2019/2020.

I’m always on the lookout for a good decaf black tea, so I knew I wanted to try this one even though Stash doesn’t have the greatest track record in my book. Unfortunately, as soon as I opened it I knew it wasn’t for me. The first thing I noticed was the strong smell of root beer or sarsaparilla. It’s one of my least favorite flavors in tea and there it was, front and center. It might as well have been a licorice tea. No thanks. I’m drinking it anyway and trying to appreciate it for what it is. I do taste the spices, indistinct as they are. Not really any pumpkin, though admittedly this is called pumpkin spice and so is not necessarily trying to be a pumpkin tea. I’ll finish it, but it’s definitely not my favorite. Hopefully someone receiving the box after me will enjoy the final bag of this one.

Sipdown (333)!

So this weekend we took a trip to my Grandma’s house to pay her a visit, and I wound up taking a few small tea samples home with me at the end of the visit.

Even thought this is a teabag, I grabbed one of them because it’s getting to be fall now and since this is something I haven’t tried before I thought it could be a nice one off cuppa. I made it at work, with some milk because milk and chai are just really good pairings. It was pretty good, but actually fairly light in flavour overall. I got a lot of the cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger but not as much clove as I wanted and very little actual pumpkin although there WAS a sweetness to it that was a bit harder to place.

It was nice to sip on, but forgettable overall.

I tried the bagged version of this. It is quite good. It has a nice blend of spices, and just a hint of pumpkin to give it a unique twist. The underlying tea flavor was smooth and not at all bitter. I wish the pumpkin flavor was a little stronger, but I think I’ll be buying more regardless.

I couldn’t even finish my cup of this tea, which saddens me because I was really looking forward to it.
It tasted sort of like I was sipping on very spicy, dirty water. I got no pumpkin, and no distinct spice flavors. Just a general, peppery taste.
