From Tazo Tea

Tazo® Earl Grey includes some of the world’s most sought-after teas, grown in the high-elevation gardens of Sri Lanka and northeast India. Following the original recipe, Tazo adds the essence of bergamot, a citrus fruit with subtle lemon and spicy lavender notes. We think the aromatic result would have curled the Earl’s stiff upper lip into a smile.

Eh. The first few tazo bags in the sampler I liked, but this and the chair bored me to tears. Granted I’ve never had an Earl Grey before, but this tasted like I stole perfume and guzzled it. It was not enjoyable in the least…I actually threw most of the cup away, which I never do. I will try again maybe when I am less tired and cranky.

This tea has been a bit of a stand-by during trips to Starbucks. As other reviewers have mentioned, it steeps very quickly. Basically I let it steep during the walk from the counter to the place to put milk in it. Usually there is someone else in the way, or someone is smiling at the baby, so I would put it at about a minute and a half! I guess Starbucks teas are for impatient people. When it is too strong, and I let it steep beyond the walk, it is cringe-worthy.

It does need “toning down” with milk, and makes an excellent latte. It is actually like some sort of rich, malty hot version of ice-cream, if that makes sense. I am on a mission to find the hot equivalent to ice-cream. I wish I could have something that is as satisfying as ice-cream, while being cozy and warming instead of chilling. And at 140 calories it pretty satisfying without adding inches.

How should I describe this Earl Grey? It is strong and malty, like an Assam, but has the subtle taste of lavender underneath the Bergamot overtones. In fact, I found it a little too strong for an Earl Grey, and was only satisfied by the aroma. Earl Grey teas are a signature tea for each company. For this reason, I expect a variety in the flavor from company to company. And perhaps Tazo simply wanted to make this blend stronger than most Earl Greys. Still, I find myself going back to Twinings or Harney & Sons for the best Earl Grey.

Another day, another sad Venti single-bag of this non-descript bag blend. I really hope I can avoid these in the future. If I know I’m gong to be at Buckie’s, I should bring a bag from home. At least then I won’t steep to disappointment.

If I drown the perfume and bergamont with vanilla soy its drinkable. Not a fan

A decent Earl Grey, which is one of my favorite black teas. Can especially detect the lavender.

Yep, eg from sbux.

I got on the wrong bus and it’s pouring and I’m wearing sandals and a sweatshirt and so so cold and sore and tired.

So I went the long way around so I could transfer to a bus without standing in the rain. And got sbux. The line was huge so tea it was. And she gave me two tea bags for the price of one, so I guess I look kinda crappy. :)

It’s not perfect, but it’s hot and flavoured and comforting.

I hope you home now. Stay warm

Man, how miserable, especially when you’ve been sick.

OMGsrsly

I got home and ate “real food” instead of coffee and tea, then borrowed a friends car to do ALL the grocery shopping (yay Costco?) and now I’m finally home and the frogs are cleaned and all the animals are fed and wow I did a lot. :) Blasting heat in the car was DIVINE.

This is the only thing I get when I go to Starbucks

They shove two freakin bags in there and it will keep you wired for a bit.

It’s so bitter, it makes you paranoid and amazed that Tazo even makes this.

Pretty impressed with it.

Flavor wise, not really gettin much Bergamot, but it’s black. I add milk to mine for some odd reason, but it helps thin it out.

It really is a nice tea in the morning, but not my first choice.

Very strong scent of bergamot. Its a heavy tea, not one to drink to relax. I don’t particularly like the flavor, but some people seem to like it, so if you like Earl Grey it wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot. If you do, drink it in the morning.

My earlier Tazo EG post was from yesterday. I am sitting at Starbucks again today downloading a cad program so I can draw up a porch for our home. We hope to finally build it this summer after 23 years.

The kind folks behind the counter are new and they don’t seem to get tea – imagine that at a coffee shop. I asked for iced, I am pretty sure they forgot and just prepared it as a hot tea as they gave me a leftover cup. The iced cup has no ice – it melted, so they gave me a cup of ice. This is very bitter. I kind of get the whole blergamot thing. What a difference a day makes. I took it in stride. It amused me and it is my fault for expecting s small town coffee shop to get tea right.

TeaBrat

blergamot? lol!

When you get finished, we desperately need a bathroom overhaul and I want a sun room…

Hey, I just draw them. If I could build it, the porch would have been done years ago.
