From Tealish

A rich and delicious herbal blend with almond, apple, cinnamon, and beetroot pieces. The intoxicating aroma of roasted nuts, caramelized almonds and baked apples are impossible to resist. A dreamy blend anytime you need a sweet treat! Our most popular tea by a landslide!

This is a very interesting herbal tea. It’s pretty complex in its flavours, given that there are quite a few things thrown into the mix here.

First thing you’ll notice is the smell as you open the packaging. What a comforting smell of apple pie.

Then, the next thing you’ll notice is the colour. The beetroot pieces really come out here, causing the entire drink to have an almost rosy look. Not quite what I expected.

You’ll then be intoxicated by the aroma, which in turn will prompt you to take a sip, causing you to sink down into your chair and let out a big sighhh.

It’s not technically a true tea, being a herbal and all, but if you’re in the mood for something unique yet tasty, this is worth a try. Especially if just reading the description raises your eyebrows a little bit. Now I just wish I had ordered more…

Next time I’m going to try this in the form of a latte. I can only imagine how interesting that’s going to be.

The first time I smelt this tea, I had to sit down. An intense desserty smell that makes me go weak in the knees every time. Tastes just as good as it smells!

I added a spoonful of honey which smoothed out some of the sourness and helped bring out the almond a bit more. But overall this tea is still incongruously tangy with not enough of the creamy nuttiness I was expecting. A bit disappointing, particularly given how delicious it smells.

Perfect on a winter afternoon, when you have a dessert craving but a resolution to keep.

Went into a colleague’s stash for this again. The first notes are of baked goodness and hints of almond. Was trying really hard to put my finger on what specifically the smell combination reminded me of and I finally figured it out – it smells like almond biscotti in a cup! Nutty, twice baked goodness.

I let it steep all the way home in my thermos and it was still great, no worries about oversteeping at all.

In an ideal world with non-existent budgets, I would definitely consider buying this for my stash.

Virtually identical to Forever Nuts from David’s Tea, to the point that I wouldn’t be surprised if both companies source from the same supplier. It’s not too much of a stretch for many different companies to have an apple/cinnamon/almond blend, but the inclusion of beetroot in both is what makes me raise a dubious eyebrow. In any case, it’s a winning flavour combination that reminds me of apple pie and oatmeal cookies with cinnamon. I initially found this one slightly less cinnamon-y than Forever Nuts, but I’ve noticed that the flavour of Forever Nuts can be wildly inconsistent with each purchase (sometimes it’s more spicy, other times, more nutty), so maybe that’s the case with Toasty Almond, as well. Both infusions suffer if over-steeped, taking on a strange tang, which may be attributable to either the apple or the beetroot. Both are good, but Forever Nuts is more easily accessible to me, so I doubt I’ll pick up Toasty Almond again.

I received a sample of Toasty Almond from Courtney this past week when I found an unexpected package waiting for me in my mailbox! Prior to receiving it, I don’t think I had ever heard of Tealish, so I was really excited to try some of their teas.

This tea is nearly identical to DAVIDs’ Forever Nuts. Both had that nice pink color and the same delightful aroma, smelling of baked apples and almonds. At first sip, I found Toasty Almond to have a very strong apple taste; however, I found the almond flavor in my second sip.

Although there isn’t anything that is overly different between Toasty Almond and Forever Nuts, I still prefer Forever Nuts. I find it has a slightly smoother taste over Toasty Almond and since it’s the tea that began my addiction, it will likely be preferred over any other tea I find similar to it.

Coworkers kept stopping by my desk to ask what smelled so good!

Sweet, nicely-balanced almond-y/apple-y flavor, quite mild.
