Youthberry / Wild Orange Blossom Blend

The smell of the brew was good, and the color a rich red/pink color. I don’t like sweetened teas, but drank it anyway. That was a good choice: the tea tasted very nice, and almost like a fruit punch. This would be very good as an iced tea.

Received a sample of this with my recent online order and decided to give it a go tonight. The smell is very cool-aid esque. I’m loving the aftertaste though. The tea itself is pleasant enough but I’m not sure I’d buy this again. Perhaps if I get another sample I’ll try it cold as others have suggested. Sweetened with Teavana’s German Rock Sugar.

Edit: Tried another sample cold and was not impressed. Second steeping was just as underwhelming. Actually going to lower my rating after this second impression.

The great thing about this tea is the prominent grapefruit flavor, since I love grapefruit.

There are more flavors that swirl in every sip, mainly fruity with undertones of white tea, the grapefruit, which is actually wild orange, is what stands out with every steep.

I love this mix… it is so fruity and delicious… it is great warm but I adore this tea when it is cold… it tastes almost like juice!

This was my first loose leaf tea at Teavana. I was wandering the mall with my mother after visiting my future college and a man asked if we wanted a sample. I was in love instantly. It has been about three years since my first sip and now I just enjoy the Wild Orange Blossom on its own, I feel the Youthberry (standalone or blended) has a bitter taste even to smell it. This is wonderful both hot and cold. Though I recommend adding another sort of orangey tea just to balance the flavor (though I am a bit biased in favor of citrusy flavors). Also, this blend is $20 for 2oz of the stuff. I suggest buying each separately if you don’t know if you’ll like the Youthberry. And if you want a strong cup (i like mine strong) don’t give it more time, you’ll burn the leaves. Do 2 or 3 scoops of the blend. If you have them separate do one Youthberry for every 2 Orange Blossom.

Served as iced tea, sweetened with sucralose, this tastes very good and refreshing. Great for a summer afternoon. I still LOVE and much prefer Wild Orange Blossom by itself, served hot.

It’s important to note that I received a free sample of this from Teavana. I would never buy this tea on my own. I’ve tried it in the store and the grapefruit flavor is much too strong, and I loathe grapefruit. However, my stepdaughter liked this tea (from sampling it in the store) so we made some iced last night. We used 3.5-4 teaspoons of tea and 1.5 teaspoons of rock sugar per 16oz of boiling water. We accidentally steeped it for over 20 minutes (whoops!) and then put it in the fridge overnight.

My husband and stepdaughter poured themselves a glass first and I had the third glass from the pitcher. I tried a sip of my husband’s before getting my own and it was DELICIOUS. I actually thought it was better than the Blueberry Bliss/Strawberry Lemonade (Teavana) iced blend I’ve made. The sugar mellowed everything out and reduced the bitterness of the grapefruit.

…And then I had my own glass, which was nothing but super strong grapefruit nastiness. I was able to finish the glass, but I didn’t enjoy the experience. Perhaps it would have been distributed more evenly if we’d stirred the whole pitcher beforehand. In any case, I’ve learned that rock sugar helps with the taste so I’ll be doing that in the future with my remaining samples. (Teavana has been giving free samples of this when you order online for a few months now. Is it that hard to get rid of it? :))

Got this today iced free with a coupon at Teavana. I’m lucky..my office building is attached to a mall that has a Teavana in it so I get to go use coupons for free tea often!

I love this iced and didn’t even need any sweetener! I usually put stevia in almost all my brews but not this one! Yummy!!

Okay, so this was the sample that came with my last Teavana order, so here goes.

The dry tea is full of, and I mean FULL OF fruit bits and sugar crystals. There is, like, a pitiful amount of tea leaves, so ignore the “White/Herbal” label. However, despite my disappointment in the lack of tea leaves, the dry mixture smells really nice. Very citrusy and sweet, in a desserty way.
The brew for some bizarre reason is red, probably because of the berries or something. It still smells citrusy, but its toned downed and a bit more..substantial.
It tastes like warm fruit juice, which sounds icky but actually isn’t all that bad. The fruity notes are very prominent, but not overwhelmingly/disgustingly sweet even though it had sugar added (or that may be because of my sweet tooth, or the fact that I may not have scooped as much sugar than I thought).

I’m not sure how this is going to taste without the sugar, though.
Maybe if I resteep it, it will taste more like the sugarless version since there are no crystals now? Hmmmmm…

Not something I would buy, as I usually hate fruity/flowery teas, but a pleasant surprise nonetheless. Still not something I’d pay to have though, but free….

To say I was underwhelmed with the sample I recieved from Teavana with my order would be overly nice of me, this was just flat out terrible. My initial problem with this was that in the 2 teaspoons that I dished out for my 16oz glass, nearly half of it was German rock sugar. I like German rock sugar, I even order it from Teavana, but I normally only uses 2-3 pieces per 16 oz on the rare occasions that I do use it. This was easily three times that amount and would have made this sickenly sweet considering this tea is pretty sweet on its own because of the fruit. I picked out all of the rock sugar and added 2 teaspoons of “tea”, then added 3 pieces of rock sugar back in.

On to the next problem…

Where in the world is the white tea for this blend? I counted exactly 3 pieces of white tea and they weren’t even whole. I ended up with a glass of warm, bright orangish-pink water that reminded me an awful lot like kool-aid. I hate kool-aid.

This was terrible hot, and I agree with one of the previous comments that this tasted like warm fruit punch. It wasn’t even a good warm fruit punch since it was really lacking in flavor. I suppose that is why there was so much sugar in the mix. This was only marginally better when served cold.

I really wanted to be fair with this review since I do have an issue with shopping at Teavana. I disagree with the way they treat their employees and the practices of the sales staff. I really wish that they would improve the quality of the product they sell and the way they treat their customers. They get so little of my business as it is, but I really don’t see them keeping me as a customer for much longer. That really is a shame because I love that I can buy tea locally or send friends to do so, it just sad that the tea isn’t any good.
