From The NecessiTeas

As a child I was not a fan of oatmeal raisin cookies. I believed that 1) raisins did not belong in cookies, and 2) adding oatmeal was my mothers way of secretly making cookies healthy. Luckily, I came to my senses and crossed over to the raisin-loving cookie club. And for that very reason, I created this blend! Reminiscent of warm cookies fresh from the oven, just like mom used to make. Our Oatmeal Raisin Cookie tastes just like a cozy, blanket wrapped afternoon that will fill your cup with the aroma of vanilla, cinnamon, and cloves.

This tea really does remind me a oatmeal raisin cookie. For me it was more the smell then the taste. It’s base is a black tea and I am only recently trying and learning to like some black tea flavors so keep that in mind. It was fairly smooth to me and I could smell the cinnamon and spices. There is cane sugar in the mix so it needed no added sugar for me. Pipping hot I didn’t enjoy it as much, but letting it cool just a bit brought out the cookie flavors.

GCTTB

this was a fun one to try. It’s more like the memory of oatmeal raisin cookie for me, with a little more cinnamon than i need. When i make oatmeal raisin (chocolate chip) cookies the cinnamon is much subtler. However, there’s an element of “baked good” that i think has been captured quite nicely. not a keeper for me, but an enjoyable cup to try.

I was wondering how you got this and then I remembered I passed it along to Roswell who must have shared it lol

That’s exactly what happened :P

Sipdown (211)!

Thanks for the sample VariaTEA!

So, this pretty well does taste exactly like an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, complete with light cinnamon pastry notes and vanilla notes. Is it a good thing that it’s so accurate? Eh, debatable. I’d probably enjoy it a lot more of I liked raisins. I’ve come around to them a lot since first joining steepster and even enjoy raisin notes in my black teas (Darjeeling/Keemun specifically) quite a bit now BUT I’m a long, long way from appreciating them in real life and I think the fact this reminded me so strongly of ‘real life’ raisins and not ‘raisin notes’ in tea was what made it somewhat conflicting.

I still enjoyed it a lot overall, especially the soft cinnamon notes and really subtle pithy lemon undertones – but couldn’t completely get into it.

VariaTEA

So when I packaged this, I considered the raisins but then decided you should try it anyways

Rasseru

Literally the new definition in the teadictionary – ‘variatea’ – when one drinks a lot of different types of tea, even to the point of drinking tea they might not like.

Roswell Strange

I think that describes so many of us…

I’m gonna choose to look at it as a way to broaden and refine my palate though. Also, thanks for the reminder that I really should be adding that book to my growing collection! :)

Well this has cooled quite a great deal but it still captures the taste of an oatmeal raisin cookie…heavy on the raisin and with a great deal of cinnamon. The brew has an awesome fresh-baked cookie scent. All in all, its pretty tasty and though I wouldn’t mind slightly less cinnamon, I am pleased.

Evol Ving Ness

This sounds rather captivating. That said, too much cinnamon destroys the whole thing for me.

Evol Ving Ness

Did you drink this as latte or black?

VariaTEA

I drank it black and tbh I think the cinnamon came out more since it cooled. I imagine it would be more balanced if it were hotter.

Evol Ving Ness

Thanks for unravelling that, VariaTEA.
