This sample was gifted by AJRimmer, thank you!

It smells pleasant in the cup… gentle spices and a subtle sweetness. The flavor is nice, too. I get more of an orange spice tea than gingerbread, but it is also one of the better orange spice flavor profiles I’ve had in a while. The citrus isn’t too potent as a flavor, but I think it really makes the clove notes pop, which is coming off as the strongest spice note. The ginger is present but not without any unpleasant burning. The tea isn’t as sweet as it comes off on the nose, and the spice notes are strong but not aggressive.

It’s a nice cold morning tea. (Spring still is hesitant to spring in my neck of the woods, and it’s a comforting profile against the random snow/rain/wind that keeps popping up the second I think the weather is going to turn).

The main flavor I taste is a mild ginger. It’s not spicy, just sort of desserty. The base tea doesn’t show through much, and I don’t taste anything “brulee” about it. The first time I had it, I didn’t think it tasted much like cookies, but in my second cup, I can almost see it. It tasted nice, but I would have liked the flavors to be a little stronger. Thanks for sharing, amandastory516!

Strange VariaTEA TTB: Tea #1

I can’t remember if VariaTEA has mentioned this before, but the two of us are starting a travelling tea box – no discussion board post yet because I still have to fill my half of the box and we want to coordinate with some instagram tea friends as well, but this is one of the teas that she added that I decided to try!

I’m probably going to try a handful or two before I pass along to the next person, because there are plenty of teas added in that I’ve not tried and am curious about – but I don’t intend on finishing any of them off or removing any entirely. Blends from Necessiteas can be so hard to get ahold of though, so even though this doesn’t seem super up my alley flavour wise I thought I should take advantage of the chance to try it!

It’s actually not bad – I find the black tea a little astringent, and that is something I’ve observed for many of the black blends from Necessiteas, but the ginger is prominent and definitely natural tasting but not spicy and I like all the brown sugar flavours that are coming through along with some warming cinnamon undertones. Plus, it’s sweet but not sugary. I didn’t think to add milk when making the mug, but I think that would have been an excellent way to curb some of the astringency and make the mouthfeel a little fuller and more appealing.

Seems like a pretty solid option for the ginger lovers.

Why are Necessiteas so hard to get ahold of?

Roswell Strange

The shipping is incredibly expensive to Canada, she doesn’t restock consistently, and when she does restock her blends tends to sell out within the hour…

Evol Ving Ness

Wow, thanks, Ms.Strange. That’s quite a line-up of difficulties. I’d give up just as a result of shipping fees. Canadians are obviously not on her wish list.

AJRimmer

Oh, I’ll definitely sign up for a TTB whenever that’s posted!

Got a sample of this to try from Amandastory! Thanks! :)
Gingerbread indeed! This definitely has that baked ginger flavor in the sip with a little of the ginger heat lingering in the finish. There is a caramel like flavor that is accompanying the ginger. A little sweetness in there from the little sugar crystals that were a pretty visual in the dry tea. This tea tastes pretty smooth. No rough edges or sharpness to the flavor. I like this a lot, but I don’t think I’d go through the hassle of trying to order some since stock on the website is so inconsistent. Wish it were easier!

April Sipdown Alphabet Challenge: “G” Tea
SIpdown! This sample kindly came from AmandaStory
I’ve been drinking it but haven’t written a note up until now.
This particular cup doesn’t really remind me of gingerbread or creme brulee but cola instead. It reminds me of cola drinking this one plain and lukewarm. It’s pretty yummy and sweet just on it’s own.

Flavors: Cola, Spices, Sweet

I’m drinking a cup of this now! I can totally see the cola part now that you mention it!

Glad I’m not the only one! (:

Made a latte with this today. I did it once before I recall it being a little disappointing. This latte is also a little disappointing. It smells so good and so I expect gingerbread and caramelized sugar and I am mostly getting flat ginger and milk. It smells like there should be more but there isn’t.

Sipdown 12-2022

This sucks. I don’t know why I rated it so high before. Tastes so similar to the Pumpkin Snickerdoodle, but with added pencil shavings. Sugary ginger pencil shavings.

AJRimmer

Ha ouch!

Skysamurai

Pencil shaving. I’m rolling. Partially because it’s hilarious and partially because now I taste it too o_o

Evol Ving Ness

^ exactly what she said.
