A nice, soft smell out of the tin that’s true to its namesake, but primes you for disappointment once you discover that it’s mostly just dusty, dry rooibos once steeped. I kept coming back to this one thinking the next cup would be different, and it’s passable with a splash of milk, but why waste perfectly good dairy? I struggled through the tin and was relieved when this was finally gone.

Got this sample (along with soooo many others) from Ost back when we met up at Downtown Disney :) I was not looking forward to it once I brewed the cup, simply because I could smell the medicinal funk I have been noticing in hot rooibos lately…to my surprise, though, it didn’t come through in the flavor! The almond and coconut balanced each other quite nicely in this one. I’d say this is good if you want something desserty that isn’t exactly sweet tasting. Thanks for the chance to try it, Ost!

This was definitely an impulse purchase I picked up today at the store. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while, but I don’t have such a great track record with Republic of Tea.

In the bag it just smells like rooibos and artificial flavoring. I ended up steeping this for 7 minutes. At first I didn’t taste much flavoring at all but as the cup cools, it is coming out more. I get a bit of almond and creaminess which I suspect is the coconut. It does have a very artificial flavor IMO.This was better with a bit of soymilk but I can’t say I’m a big fan and now I have a whole tin of this stuff. Perhaps I can find a way of making it more palatable. Ugh.

p.s. – it is better when steeped for 5 minutes instead of 7.

I had really liked this one. I’m sorry you didn’t like it. Ending up with a bunch of tea you hate always sucks ><

I knew it was a gamble… :)

I haven’t had Republic of Tea. It’s available at the little coffee shop my knitting group meets at and I’ve thought of getting a tin. Is there one you can recommend?

TeaBrat

I liked the lemon chiffon cake if it’s available near you. I haven’t been too impressed with the other ones of theirs I have tried.

Thanks! If I see that one next time we knit I might pick it up. My problem is there aren’t tea shops here in North Dakota, even in Fargo, the largest city. I would love, love, LOVE to go to a shop and try a cup or two of a tea before I buy a tin of it. Simply not an option here. :(

Mmmm!! This tea is perfect! ^^
So sweet and strong. Perfect for relaxing too.
Glad I ordered two tins of this one with the Cost Plus half off sale! Thanks again for the generous sample, Rosehips! :D

I’m so glad you like it! One of my favorite non caffeine teas, to be sure.

I had high expectations for this tea. I mean really, almonds + coconuts should equal really good. Well, it’s OK but not as yummy as I was hoping for. I taste some coconut and almond cookie but doesn’t satisfy me like some other dessert teas.

Flavors: Almond, Coconut

Arshness

I don’t care for coconuts, but almond tea sounds delightful. Going to have to find something like that.

I’m not so sure about this one. I made a tea latte with two spoons of sugar. It’s okay, but it may be a bit too sweet for me. Next time I will try it without sugar.
