my fiance’s mom gave me a few bags of this to try today, and I might have to go get my very own tin of it. It’s so different, and I love coconut!
next time maybe i’ll try some honey

Babble

I got a sample of this from a local tea store and have yet to try it. The other chocolate RoT’s weren’t bad :)

I steeped two bags in my travel mug to have at work (milk and two heaping teaspoons of sugar, cuz that’s how I roll). I’m not a coconut fanatic usually, but WOW. The coconut flavor really came through. It reminded me a little bit of an Almond Joy candy bar. I can’t wait to have it again!

It was alright. Thought it would be sweeter than it really was.

Amount: 2 teabags for 12 ounces of water
Time: 4-5 minutes

Served: Hot
Smell: Strongly of the coconut shell and meat
Flavor: light cocoa with coconut milk taste. MilitiaJim was unable to pick up the cocoa, it was “stomped on” by the coconut
Aftertaste: coconut, sweet

Added german rock sugar, 1 scoop per cup and it really helped smooth the flavor and bring out the cocoa.

Added Almond Milk, didn’t help the tea at all (we love plain black almond milk tea and wanted to experiment). Militiajim notes this makes it smell like an Almond Joy bar.

I want to try in the future with honey, and maybe a 5-6 minute brew time.

The minimum recommended steep time for this is 5 minutes. I have been steeping it for 7, but today I tried 10, and it made a world of difference. It was so much more rich this time around, I had to bump up the rating. If you’re on the fence about trying it, or have it at home but aren’t loving it, try a longer steep time.

Lots of tea…great steeped for about 45 seconds with a liberal splash of soy milk.

I ordered one of those “make it your own” samplers from RofT. I don’t know what it is really called, but you can mix and match 24 tea bags in a plain brown box. I thought it would be a great way to try several teas without having to buy a bunch.

This is one I wanted to try. I like a nice dessert-y tea in the evening, so last night I tried this one. It was good. Not knock-my-socks-off good, but enjoyable. I didn’t really get the coconut or the chocolate, but with my non-existent sense of smell that is not surprising. I have a cold right now (gosh darn it! I am really done being sick!) so warm tea felt good on my throat. Looking forward to going through these teas to find new favorites.

I didn’t know they did that! That sounds like fun!

Cameron B.

I wish they offered a sampler of the Cuppa Cake blends, I want to try them but I don’t want to buy a whole tin of each! Seems like the caramel vanilla is the only one they offer in the custom samplers…

@Ashmanra. Here. Unfortunately, as @Cameron B says, it is not every tea they have, but a limited number. I wanted to try some of the Bridgerton dessert teas.

I spent most of the weekend at the in-laws, so I didn’t have access to the kettle and all the tools to steep loose-leaf. I figured it was a good excuse to work on this sipsby advent I stalled out on – and the stall was very much because I wasn’t excited to see this tea. Now I’ve got to go back into my phone for the notes!

There is only so much chocolate can do to counter coconut, and this wasn’t quite enough for me, but I’ll admit it got pretty close. This felt almost like a liquid version of a Samoa/Caramel Delight Girl Scout Cookie, though a touch heavier on the coconut. I tolerated it about as long as I do the cookie before giving it over to my partner, who enjoyed the rest of the cup. It’s quite smooth and would make a fantastic dessert for someone with even a little less disdain for coconut than myself.

Bumping up the rating on this one. It satisfies like a mug of hot cocoa, without all the sugar and calories. The longer it steeps, the better. My only critique is that I wish the chicory and carob base were a little stronger, to boost the roasty, umami aspect of it a bit more.
