From TheTea

One of our favorite cultivars from Wuyi Shan.

Qi Lan means rare/strange orchid.

Extraordinary highly aromatic tea with sweet, balanced taste.

You will find here notes of flowers (orchid, yeah!), roasted almonds, nuances of tropical fruits, honey with hints of precious wood incenses.

Amazing tea with medium roasting level. Of course – charcoal roast!

When you prepare our Qi Lan, your room immediately will be full of amazing aromas!

Tea was produced in organic garden established more than 20 years ago in the village located 10 min drive away from Wuyishan Protected Area. That’s why we shouldn’t consider this tea as Zhengyan Cha. It is considered as Banyan cha: the tea produced in the outskirts of Wuyi National Park.

Origin: organic garden located 10 min drive from the Wuyishan Protected Area, Banyan area, Wuyishan, Fujian, China.

Vintage: May 2023

Tea Varietal: pure Qi Lan, single garden.

[Spring 2023 harvest]

I really like the complex aromatics of this tea as well as its bubbly mouthfeel. The cha qi is awakening as it brings a quality of presence.

Dry leaves smell perfumy with notes of spices, brownies, butter, bread crust, cherry, and flowers. After the rinse, I get hints of raspberry, wood, and petrichor, but it’s very flowery overall.

The tea is thick, warming, and mineral. Its taste is sweet, woody, and herbaceous with a peach flavour at times. There is a pungent sweet aftertaste that also bring a nectar-like flavour.
