From Upton Tea Imports

This is a versatile tea that can be infused for variable lengths of time, ranging from 3 to 6 minutes. At briefer steepings, the liquor is sweeter and more delicate. Longer steepings yield a more robust cup, which many will prefer when paired with a rich dessert. With notes of green apple and hints of sweet pipe tobacco, this unique tea is a great addition to our line of African tea offerings.

I thought it was time for a tea from Rwanda. Dry this one smelled a little like sun dried tomatoes and black tea with a bit of black pepper. Once infused it smelled a little like pipe tobacco.

It infuses to a brunt orange/red/brown color.

As it cools (because it’s WAY too hot – I’m not sure what I did to my water this time – Oops!) it starts smelling more savory…a very yummy cooked dish of rice and some kind of saucy-goodness!

It’s mellower on the tastebuds than it looks and smells but it’s delightful on the tongue. It’s different than any other black tea I have had. There are savory flavors to it. There are hints of some sort of cocoa-creme or vanilla pudding or something trying to hide in the background, too. It’s very interesting.

I’m really liking this. I’m going to tinker with this one again because it said it’s versatile and changes-up at different steep times.

Excellent offering!
