From Verdant Tea

We just don’t get most breakfast tea. Who wants to be hit in the face with astringency right when they wake up? We talked to a lot of people and did a lot of field tests on this one. The goal was to make a breakfast blend that was rich, strong, and satisfying enough for people to drink straight or with milk, while avoiding that bitter and dry flavor that breakfast tea can fall into. The result is a perfectly melded, and multi dimensional morning cup of tea that actually settles the stomach, but still packs enough caffeine to get you going. We reached outside the box on this, blending our Chinese black teas with a touch of roasted oolong and a touch of pu’er to round out the body.

Ingredients: Laoshan Black, Yunnan Golden Buds, Xingyang 2007 Imperial Pu’er, Big Red Robe

This sample came to me from Terri – thank you so much. Turned out i didnt sample everything you sent me.
Made it western, 3g 8oz 205F 3min.
Tea is rich chocolate and bread from Laoshan Black and puerh, has some faint mineral notes of Dao Hong Pao. its balanced tea and i like it a lot.
Thank you Terri.

2tsp (fluffy tea, long leaves, hard to measure) for 300mL water @ 95C, steeped four minutes.

I got some of the early 2014 version of Imperial Breakfast (I think), which I notice is already sold out.

A bit lighter than last year, with the pu-erh perhaps less potent — fine with me. The white tea gets to dance, and the Yunnan gives a clean depth. I am learning to appreciate the pu-erh in this gorgeous blend. Nice caffeine lift, too.

So glad to have this back again in my cupboard. It’s really comforting on this snowy morning.
