From Verdant Tea

Unique and unexpected. This version of their amazing Eight Treasures Winter blend has been altered to emphasize the surprising similarity with a Valentine’s tradition – candy hearts. If you break the flavours down, this blend is complex – sweet and almost candy-like,with lively citrus, warming vanilla and natural wood and pine.

UGH!!! I just closed out of my long and wonderful tasting note on this tea as I was trying to rate it…well I don’t feel like re-typing it, so in a nutshell – smells like tulsi and earthy spices, steeped for 40s with boiling water, steeped smells like Yabao (pine and brown sugar), tastes wonderfully like Yabao (pine and brown sugar), candied rose petals and jasmine. Sweet and nuanced. More similar to the summer version, which I adore. winter 8TY < valentines 8TY < Summer 8TY, although this is close to the summer version. Would definitely purchase again!

I’m writing this while really tired and kind of sleepy…I did not get much sleep last night, so that is why I daringly had something that said this had medium amount of caffeine in it. Even so still yawning every other minute or so, and fell asleep for about an hour.

I recieved this tea as part of Amoda’s one time offer box, I wish I could sign up for a subscription for a monthly box because $12 is a decent amount.

Anyways…I would have to be sipping this side by side with the regular 8 Treasures because I am not really tasting much difference. Though I did have the thought that 8 Treasures might make an interesting base for a chai, a name like Fireside Chai with a picture of a fireplace, armchair, classic book and of course a steaming cup of tea. Hmmm, Cranberries too! And or oranges.

Anyways…I just made myself a 2nd infusion and feeling alot more awake, with any luck that means I’ll be able to get some work done. A lot of the taste is still there but muted. I want to like further infusions of tea, but overall I have not really gotten into it. Maybe it takes time, eh?

Backlog:

This is the first tea from Amoda Tea’s February Tasting box that I tried. I was happy to see that Amoda teamed up with Verdant for Valentine’s day to offer three teas that were not something that was offered on the Verdant Website.

I’ve tried the Eight Treasures blend and enjoyed that, so I was pretty confident that I’d enjoy this. There are some different “treasures” to this valentine’s blend, though. This blend has juniper, tulsi and burdock, while the original treasure blend has goji, marigold and honeysuckle. The result is a slightly spicier blend with this Valentine’s offering.

Really nice. Here’s my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/02/24/eight-treasures-valentine-blend-from-verdant-tea/

I got this one in my 1 time Amoda box, I can’t wait to try it! I’m planning a small buy on Verdant’s website soon, like in the next week or so, when I get more moola.
