From Verdant Tea

This tea is wild picked by Master Zhou in the oldest tea forest in the world. The leaves in this cake are from trees between three hundred and five hundred years old whose roots draw nutrients deep from the soil. The leaves are hand finished and stone pressed using traditional carved molds. The biodiversity of Qianjiazhai gives immense complexity to the flavor of this tea.

Picked April 2015

mmmmm possible miss for me. I’ll have to try this again and play with the steepings and water temp. So far though, not really a far, though that’s not really surprising as i’m more shou than sheng. May need to pass this along to someone who will better appreciate it but will play with it a bit more first :)

Tea Taste Comparison #1! The first thing that I thought of when I tried this tea was that it tasted a lot like W2T’s Poundcake. So, I decided to compare the two side by side. Here are my findings: I did not do a rinse. After the first two cups of each, I honestly found trouble finding a difference in taste. I found the same results after the third steep and fourth steeps. The color, taste, and aroma were pretty much identical. I’ll assume that that the rest of the steeps will be similar. For $7.50 a 100g cake, this was well worth the purchase. Like the Poundcake, it is creamy, slightly vegetal, smooth, sweet, and slightly fruity.
