This was the pot of tea my mom ordered during our breakfast at Pendray Inn. She was excited to get to try another of Westholme’s teas, even though this isn’t one of the Canadian grown ones. Plus, if she proved nothing else during this trip, it’s that she loves a floral black tea – especially one with bergamot. This is, after all, a lavender Earl Grey…

I actually enjoyed this one the most out of the three teas she’d picked during our rotation of tea houses. It was very lavender forward but a soft, soothing lavender that almost seemed to caress the palate instead of assaulting it with perfumes. I found the bergamot incredibly light handed, which may be why I enjoyed this as much as I did. Not a floral overload, for sure. The tea had a nice natural honey-like sweetness to it, and it complimented a gentle addition of cream exceptionally well!

Pretty much my favourite tea. I love the Assam base, I love earl grey, and I love the heavy hit of lavender.

So good either plain or with milk/sugar. Once my mom sends me more (she’s my tea supplier these days!) I’ll have to make it as a latte, all fancy with steamed milk and everything.
