From white2tea

Our 2022 Gingerbread Man is a shou Puer blend that’s easy on the wallet and packed full of sticky sweet molasses flavor and aroma. A great introductory shou Puer tea for anybody in a need of a hefty morning cup who has a penchant for sweet baked goods.

Each cake is 200 grams of tea.

After a month of rest the reek of fish food dissipated and the cake became inviting. Sticking my nose in the bag brought hallucinations of gingerbread men wearing lederhosen managing a German bakery. Evidence that branding works. They seemingly do both savory and sweet, not shy with their use of salt and cinnamon. Definitely a bakery worth returning to.

this is simple ripe puer, very thick but good price tag.
Gonfu all the way starting at 10 sec, and increasing by 5 sec each time, managed to do about 10-12 steep

Gongfu!

It was the descriptor of molasses that really hooked me into grabbing this shou puerh, though the affordable price tag certainly made the decision easier. Most steeps had the same basic structure; a bitter top note and hint of wet soil followed by a whole lot of molasses in the finish. The liquor is thick and oily, coating the palate with each sip. To me, the name is justified – it’s hard not to think of Gingerbread with that much molasses. Overall, as a gongfu session, this definitely felt like a “get the job done” kind of tea – to the point flavour payoff without nuance. Would probably be a bit better brewed grandpa than gongfu, but I’m also super on board with this as a daily drinker. It’s tasty without needing attention!
