305 Tasting Notes
This oolong is on the green side of things. I really tried to like it. I varied the steep times and the temperature…same results for me. Too vegan tasting. The smell in the tin is incredible, but the brew is not to my liking. I guess I have something to put in the TTB!
Ordered this on the Steepster Select special on an impulse…free shipping I could not resist! Got the tea today, made a pot. The smell is rich. The brew is smooth. I added rock crystals and milk. I drank two pots of this tea. Wonderful breakfast tea. I love that is not bitter and is lighter than a china black tea. The 3 oz tin is full but I am still wondering how long this will last since I plan on drinking this every morning:)
The smell in the tin is incredible. The taste in the cup is good, but not incredible. I like this tea with milk. I don’t really like it plain. Will I reorder this tea, probably not. If the smell in the tin was equal to the taste in the cup…Yes, but it is not:(
Preparation
I am on a roll with great teas from The Jade Teapot!
This is a dark Oolong with a mere hint of orange. Smooth brew. Classic Oolong taste. Good for multiple infusions. I easily got three really good infusions, did not try for a fourth, getting a bit too light. I loved watching the leaves unfurl in my new glass teacup:)
I have been thinking I was looking for a vanilla tea. NO, I have been looking for hazelnut and Ceylon tea. I got my samples from Adiago today. I opened each tin and sniffed. Good smells from the two oolongs, but when I got to this one, I stopped and made a pot of tea.
The smell is intoxicating. The brew is a light black tea and the hazelnut definitely adds a dimension. Not too overpowering, just a nice complement to the Ceylon. I added milk and sugar and downed that pot instantly. I drank the second pot without milk and sugar. I like it:)
Not sure about the brew time or the temp of the water. I normally only brew tea 3 minutes. The tin recommends 5 min with water 212 degrees…so I will have to play with this and see what I like best. 3 infusions later, I really love this tea. I do think that the water does not need to be 212 degrees and 3 minutes is an adequate brewing time. But I will continue to experiment with my sample. I can tell I need to place another Adiago order soon, the sample will be gone in a few days:))
