1184 Tasting Notes
I cold brewed this sample from my recent DT order. It was pretty good. It has a bit of that artificial peachy flavour that a lot of DT blends have but it was pretty good. I find that it is fairly similar to mango madness which I already have so I likely won’t be purchasing any of this.
I was browsing through Sobeys when I saw that they had a bunch of tea on sale. $8 for 80g…sure I’ll try it. I bought this fully expecting that it wouldn’t be on Steepster. So I was surprised to see it here!
I was pleasantly surprised twitch this blend. I saw that there was roses in it, so I picked most of those out. The fig is something I have never seen in a fruit tisane before. I enjoyed it as a cold brew and I found the hibiscus wasn’t too overpowering here. It was sweet enough with no added sweetener. Not too bad!
Now I will have to cold brew the other tea I bought from Tea Squared—a flavoured green.
Glad you liked this one! I really enjoy both this one and Cranberry Purifier, and Sobeys carries pretty close to the whole line up of Tea Squared loose teas (depending on which one you’re shopping at).
Here Sobey’s also carries a good selection of teas. I will have to look for this brand to see if they have it.
Cold brew
There is an articificial taste that I get that kind of tastes like the peach juice that I used to get as a kid from Tim Hortons. I’m not sure if they still have that juice or not but it is similar to a lot of cheap grocery store juice crystals.
I actually don’t mind that taste on occasion, I just have to keep in mind that it doesn’t taste very natural. I do enjoy this white mango tea though anyway.
They are a bit different looking back at my note from the lassi. The lassi had chamomile and vanilla I think. If I remember correctly, I liked this one better because I really enjoy white tea. But it was a log time ago! My memory isn’t the greatest…
The mango lassi one sounded very tempting to me, but it disappeared before I had a chance to try it.
Ah! you are a white tea fan! Good to know. Or perhaps I knew that already, or did I. Yeah, talking about memory…
This was actually a pretty decent cold brew. It was mildly pink but the hibiscus was fairly tame. The peach isn’t as strong as I was hoping but the orange is quite refreshing. I didn’t find that the licorice got out of hand either, it was fairly tame.
I would likely buy this again for cold brews this summer.
I’ve been trying to find a tea for a nice cold brew for the summer. I’m adding this one to that list!
Forgot to add-I love doing tea bags for iced tea in the summer. Easier to clean than filters, and a lot cheaper than loose leaf since my husband and I drink sometimes 2L a day of iced tea!
It is a good candidate for cold brewing.
Kristal—which are your favourite tea bags to cold brew? I need some good recommendations!
tigress_al, I only like herbal fruit blends and my favorites include Black Cherry & True Blueberry from Celestial Seasonings as well as Raspberry Hibiscus from Stash (which is the only tea I like from Stash and I’ve tried about 7-8 of their herbal fruit blends). This summer I will be experimenting more with bagged teas instead of loose leaf since it’s cheaper so look out for reviews around then ;)! (I must have spend $200-300 on tea for iced tea between May-August of last year…yikes…)
Wow, Kristal, that’s a lot of iced tea!
Thanks for the suggestions and I will be keep an eye out for your notes re: iced teas
Agreed. It is good but then gets this weird artificial thing which puts me off of it.
This one wasn’t for me either.
I guess we can’t love every tea!
