I like this one, its very clean tasting with no fishiness at all it is lightly earthy and very smooth, I think a person who thinks they wouldnt like puerh would like this one. It is excellent after a heavy meal. 2 to 5 minutes steep on this one was perfect for me. This one made me think of one of my first puerh it was very similar to this and it made me fall in love with puerh.

Preparation

I got samples from Fong Mong today, had to try the black one first and i’m glad i did it was really nice first thing in the morning, the steeped leaves seem to have floral aroma thats slightly minty and are pleasing to the eyes, the liquor is red and also pretty to look at and it tastes wonderful its malty and almost chocolatey and it does have a slight vegetal taste to it that I wasnt expecting but it is very nice. it reminds of an Assam so I thought it may take a little milk well but that wasn’t very good it is best on its own.

This one is good too, kinda vegetal but still a little toasty, not as good as the amber oolong, i like it :)

I made some today as an iced tea and it was really good and made a nice strong robust iced tea, It’s not your typical southern iced tea thats for sure, I love it.

I think this is my favorite tea, I enjoy drinking different teas for different moods and reasons ect and this one in particular for me is good for all those moods and such if that makes sense to anybody. It is toasty, slightly nutty, earthy and rich while still being greenish and kinda grassy to me. I want to try the Formosa Amber Oolong Select but I’m not sure, I like this one so much I already have a bag of it but I still order more samples of it with each order for just in case lol. I guess that would be a Tea Crush.
Oolongs are great, may eventually replace Puers as my favorite type of tea.

TeaBrat

Have you tried any wuyi oolongs, like a dong ha pao? I think you might like those as well…

Thomas Edward(Toad)

I dont think I’ve tried any of those but I will be sure to now that you mention them :-) thank you for the suggestion

TeaBrat

Ok, its really warm here now so I made this one iced and its great for ice because of the strong mint flavors, also I added a splash of lime for a " mojito tea" and its awesome just as good as the real thing and probably better for ya too, very refreshing in the hot weather :-)

Thomas Edward(Toad)

After I made this I searched online for a mojito tea and found a few, I also found a cucumber mojito that sounds awesome, I think I can do that myself also I must try soon :-)

Alphakitty

This sounded so good that you inspired me to make my own “kind of mojito” iced tea! Cucumber sounds delicious too.

My Lebanese friend mixes mint and basil a lot and I began to do the same. Even mix the two in salads with my greens…much fresher tasting. I’m thinking of trying some of my Middle Eastern herbs, and lemon (tiny bit) for the iced Puer. Like where you’re going

Ok back to this one since it looks like I can post now, This was pretty good I couldn’t have it cuz of hibiscus but Lance loved it so much I had to make it as iced tea for him. It tastes much better iced, Lance said it is fruity and refreshing and it reminds him of cool aid lol :-)

I didn’t buy this one for myself I bought it for Lance, he likes it alot except he said it tastes much like a white tea version of the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie also from 52 teas and we both noticed NO GRAPES there was no freeze dried grapes in our bag at all so I’m not sure if we got the bottom of the batch or if it wasn’t mixed well. Anyways Lance is happy with it and likes it still I just wasn’t that impressed with it, to me it has a doughy taste. Long as he likes it tho :-)
Oh yeah, it smells wonderful like grape bubble gum

I add Formosa Amber Oolong to China Leaf Pu-Erh, both from Upton teas equal amount of each and steep like an Oolong. It’s very nice earthy and rich, tasty and relaxing. I like to call it Pu-long lol I use to do this with TenRen teas but I like the Uptons better now.
