557 Tasting Notes

This one is almost same as the other Panyang Congou I drank the other day it just seemd to be a little richer and smoother, same malty caramel notes and the same tobacco-like sweetness. I’ve read a few review on this type of tea and very few point out the tobacco tones so maybe it’s just me but thats what I pick up from it and I like it, maybe just because I use to chew tobacco I don’t know.

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 2 min, 30 sec

Very nice and creamy with a splash of milk, mmmmmmmmmm.

TeaBrat

I have the same tea by Harney & Sons – I like it!

Steepster is acting crazy tonight. Anyway i’ll try this again. I added an oolong to this one tonight to see how it would taste and i pretty much tasted just that oolong cuz it overpowered this one, it was a no name oolong(in a glass container marked Oolong) from my local heath food store, very good heavy roasted, rich oolong taste with nice sized dark twisted leaves, i’m not sure but i think it maybe a wuyi oolong there is no way of knowing the people at the store don’t know anything about their teas at all.

This one is a nice anytime tea also, it’s much like the Samovar blend from Tea Table with just a little more malty boldness.

Tommy, which one do you like better?

ScottTeaMan

Tommy, which one do you like better?

Tommy Toadman

I think I like this one a little better, they are both nice this one just has a little more body i guess would be the right word, similar but i could put milk in this one but would not in the other.

ScottTeaMan

I think the green pearls in the Tsarina Blend mellow it out. I agree-that blend is not a good one for the addition of milk.

I like this one has a tobacco-like sweetness with caramel and maltyness and a little astringency, it’s very good it just makes think of tobacco.
This is a better review on my blog :)

I had this tea yrs ago from Stash—very good tea for the $$$.

Tommy Toadman

I like it a lot, did yours have tobacco-like notes? or reminiscent of tobacco?

ScottTeaMan

It’s been so long…….I really don’t remember tobacco notes.

Wonks

For anyone that likes this tea, I highly recommend Copenhagen’s loose leaf tea.

Tommy Toadman

Wgere can I find that? can I buy it online?

Disclaimer: For anyone stumbling upon this, don’t take my first suggestion seriously…. I’d feel guilty if any kids tried it.

Tommy Toadman

See and I thought there was a Copenhagen Tea co or something, Thanks Wonks.

Wonks

lol, well if a company pops up called copenhagen tea….. I hope it doesn’t have a surgeons general warning.

Tommy Toadman

LOL, lets hope not ;)

Pretty good, you can taste the Assam in this one but it is well balanced with the others for a very nice anytime cup of tea.

Preparation

Bonnie

Is this a smoky floral Russian tea or more Russian Caravan?

Tommy Toadman

I’d have to say probly more of a smokey floral one because its not quite as bold as some of the Russian caravans I’ve had, It starts out nice and bold and towards the end it does have floral or even fruity hints, it’s quite nice tho.

Tommy Toadman

oh yeah also i haven’t had too much exp with the russians ive had just 2 russian caravans before and they were both bold enough for me to want to use a little milk in them but i think milk would ruin this one :)

Bonnie

You know that my Russian friends have tea with chocolates and the smoky florals we add cherry or strawberry jam (I wrote about this before) and slurp and eat the jam with a spoon like desert. The Grandkids like this!

Tommy Toadman

That sounds awesome, so you put the jam in the tea and drink it up? I’ve slurped tea thru a Twix bar before, delicious!

Bonnie

Yep! Well you put a couple tablespoons and keep taking bits with the spoon while you drink the tea…really good. Tradition is sour cherry jam. I always have some in the cupboard. I got my daughter hooked on this. TWIX?! REALLY?!

ScottTeaMan

Specialteas.com used to carry this one. It’s nice to know you can get it at Tea Table. It is the only other place I’ve seen this blend. The pearls balance this blend nicely-give it a smoothness.

Nice tasting affordable pu-erh, These have taste of earthiness at first and sweetness follows, pleasant aroma that smells slightly sweet when dry and earthy but not dirty after steeped, many infusions with short steeps.

Preparation
Boiling 0 min, 45 sec
Ginkosan

Sounds good. I got a bonus one of these with my last order, waiting for slightly cooler weather before I break into it. Excited for dark-tea drinking season.

Backlog* I tried this one the other day.
Good for drinking many times this one makes a dark thick tea with a smooth clean taste and delicate aroma, this one would be nice for those who want to try a nice Pu-erh but don’t like the strong earthy notes of Pu-erhs, This one is slightly earthy and wonderfully Clean tasting , I would recommend this one to beginners for sure.

Now you can buy just one cake instead of the whole stack :)
