Day 1 of 24 days of tea So I not so gracefully bolted out of my bedroom this morning and did the hardwood floor skid to my Advent Calendar and proceeded to open Day 1. I’m pretty sure my boyfriend thinks I’m a neanderthal.

Well, this was the tea I wanted to try the most from the Winter Collection and it was the last one I tried.

At first sniff: I smell a peppermint that takes over your nostrils and then a soft sweetness as an after note. I like the smell of it. I keep sniffing it and I do like the smell. Soothing, calming and very wintery.

At first steep: I brewed this at 95C for 4.5 mins. I probably under-leafed it but did that on purpose. Trying to stretch the little tin you get in the Advent Calendar. I pretty much just taste peppermint… not picking up on the chocolate that much. I don’t add milk or sugar to herbal teas as a general rule, so I’m going to drink it straight. It teases you because you smell the sweet of white chocolate but the taste is muted.

I don’t think it’s worthy of purchasing… I may consider it if it goes on sale because it’s nice to have a nice peppermint tea to go to after dinner or before bed.

Edit: As the cup is cooling, I am getting more sweetness and more chocolate taste.

I think I’m going to be living the David’s Advent calender dream through your notes! :)
I recently tried Simpson and Vail’s Cocomint tea and it was a really nice combo of coconut and mint (as the name would suggest). I’d recommend it if you are keeping an eye out for a good herbal mint!

Yay!!! Sounds good to me!

I think you should pick up a small bag of this tea. I bought a bag of it, along with an advent calender. It’s a lot more chocolaty flavored from a big bag. It’s one of my new favorite teas.

My passion for tea started at a very young age, thanks to my grandmothers beautiful china tea cup collection. I use to brew Tetley’s or whatever version of Orange Pekoe she had in the cupboard and pick out my favourite tea cup to use. It wasn’t until I was in my late teens that I really started to develop a passion for it. My town had the Urban Tea Merchant and it was there I was exposed to high tea and the very fancy Mariage Freres brand. When they switched over to The O Dor, my girlfriend and I found salvation in going for a lovely cup of tea and decompress with some tea scones.

It has since become an obsession. I have a tea cupboard, filled with a very large variety of teas. I also use the Breville Tea Maker to make my tea. I favour black teas, with a close second being North African Mint Green Tea. Because I have the luxury of working from home, I get to enjoy a wonderful cup of tea every morning, and the journey resets daily.
