I just dunked this tea bag into hot (not boiling) water. Left it in for maybe 5 minutes, maybe longer, maybe shorter… I really haven’t cared much.

It was very floral, I have not noticed much jasmine, it was bold, green tea, bit grass seed, maybe even bit grassy. Overall I am impressed as it is in paper bag and so full of taste (and old! as “huge bags” section again). Enjoyable, simple, floral… nice green tea.

This is from huge bags section. It is in paper bags so… I wasn’t really sure if I want to try it.

But decided to brew it. Water was ready as others were drinking coffee, but it was quite close by, so I have decided to use that water as it was not boiling, but exact temperature I don’t know. I assume around 75-80°C; that said exact for green tea.

And I was steeping it for maybe 3 minutes and it actually turned out great. It was not good as fresh, I bet, but: It has got quality of decent green tea bag. It has got notes of grass, bit of hay (I expected other way, more hay), no grass seed notes, some refreshing notes and some umami was there too!

Considering unknown age and paper bag… well this is a surprise and I wonder how fresh tea is.

I found this in a Holland & Barrett’s penny sale, of all places. serendipity. I was unimpressed at first, finding the taste a bit weak, but tonight I left the teabag in for a few more minutes. it took on this incredible floral taste, all while never obstructing the taste of the tea itself. slurping it while pleasantly wasting an evening in a sort of sweet festering lazy useless elegance. tea makes the most depressing of situations somehow calmative, somehow all right.
