Today’s Review on SororiTEA Sisters!!! LOVE THIS TEA!
2nd Infusion – same 5 Horns
7 minutes
Same coloring and scent – scent a tad sweeter that first infusion.
Taste changed to more of a sweet-floral with juicy fruity tones but not overly identifiable as to switch fruit(s). VERY Smooth. YUM!
It seems I get a new surprise with each cup!
I sent some of this to LENA (as well as a few other swappin’ buddies recently) and LENA mentioned she is excited to try this so I thought I would sip on some to end the work day!
This time around I am using 5 ‘horns’.
1st infusion.
4 Mins.
The color post-infusion is very honey-like. The horns haven’t really unfurled tho…YAY…more infusions!
Smells more like silver tips this time around…I’m not picking up on the peach like my last go-around…maybe in additional infusions.
Refreshing aftertaste…juicy!
I think I am going to stop here with the 4th infusion (altho I think I could probably keep going with it)
Smells a little perfumy this time around.
Tastes approx 30/30/30/10 = Fruity/Floral/Woodsy/almost a white tea taste…
Complex and interesting…fun and sassy! Tricky and tasty! YAY!
3rd infusion…same 3 pieces…
See previous notes in addition to these differences…
Approx 11 to 12 minutes infusing…
Color is a littler lighter.
Scent is Peachy and Floral. Pleasant…not as Peachy as the 2nd infusion tho.
The ‘horns’ are continuing to morph but are still playing games with me – egging me on to continue to play with them! They look to still have more infusions left. NOW it’s become a challenge…a game…
I’m looking at them in awwww…like a arithmetician or something.
The taste…
Fruity (slightly peachy) – not as peachy as the 2nd infusion. Along with floral notes…blossoms, perhaps.
Should I NAME my Blue Unicorn!? I’m pondering that thought…
Any suggestions!?
I wasn’t going to do multiple infusions of this now because I have so much new tea to try BUT…it was sooooooooooooo good and FUN so I’m ‘all in’.
Same ‘horns’
9 minutes infusion (did 7 the first time)
See my previous review for first infusion notes. Below are my 2nd infusion notes and differences…
2nd infusion smelled much more peachy! LOVE it! Awesome scent! It’s sweeter and juicier and more champagne-like it seems! The color is pretty much the same…a lovely yellow-orange-light brown.
Just goes to show you…UNICORNS…they really ARE magical!
LOVE THIS
And the ‘horns’ aren’t fully unfurled yet so I am going to see how many infusions I can get out of these!
WOOT!!!
YAY!!!
YAY!!!!! I said…YAY!!!!!
I finally got my Blue Unicorn today and I am so excited! I won this on Shanti’s Facebook Contest!!! Woot!
I’m infusing 3 “horns” as suggested…
I completely agree with Cinoi that the pre-infusion scent is completely different than the during and post-infusion scent!
Pre – Sweet/Floral
During – Floral/Semi-Sugary
Post – Sweet Honey/Candied
This is a VERY hefty handcrafted leaf! Surely up to multiple infusions!
The Sip…
WOW!!!!
YAY!
I said…WOW! AND YAY!
Oh my! What a treat! VERY unique! VERY Sweet! Juicy! Clean and Crisp! Champagne-Like! Almost fruity but I am not sure what kind of fruit to compare it to! WOW!
I will be playing with this one as often as possible. This is also one I will be reviewing in greater length at SororiTEA Sisters…

Probably within the next week or so.
Of course I am kind of bias because I LOVE Unicorns and that is partially why I chose this tea for my winning tea. I collect anything unicorns! I have well over 500 unicorn items!!!
I love everything about this tea, I really – REALLY – really do! :)
100.
YAY!
Preparation
Like a little cup of heaven:) This was my first venture into jasmine dragon pearls, I have tried many different brands since then but Shanti is still my favorite. The scent, the flavour, the beautiful unfurling leaves…just wonderful! These leaves can be resteeped 1-2 times before they start losing flavour.
Preparation
Still working on seasoning my yixing tumbler (according to Teavana guy, this is going to take about a year). So I am brewing my favorite oolongs (which aren’t all the same, I know that, but I am going for general oolong – the floral, crisp aroma, the nutty, clean flavor).
Today’s choice was some more Blue Unicorn. I have ordered this a few times, thoroughly enjoy it and always forget just how much I enjoy it. See previous note for tasting.
I received so much tea in the mail today, you would think it was my birthday (wink wink, nudge nudge). Of them, I was extremely excited to try this one and be the first reviewer on Steepster. I have to say, that all of the reviews (shantitea.ca) and hype (facebook) about this tea are completely justified! The tea is visually BEA-utiful: tiny spears of perfectly rolled tea, a dark color with highlights of silver (tips) and gold and cinnamon-red colors. The smell of the dried tea is very faint oolong, clean, light, wonderful.
I put three of the “horns” into my infusing basket, used water just below boiling (as I typically do) and infused hot for 4 minutes with no additives. The spears unfurled a little, in that time and released a new aroma; still clean and light, but a little more body and a typical sweet oolong scent. The liquor is pale yellow. The tea is almost divine, it is like no oolong I have had before, it is light, sweet, a slight crispness at the end of each sip with an overall cleanliness that is more typical of white tea. The slight undertones that are similar to champagne also help to round out the flavors.
Second infusion, same three horns, brewed hot, 3 minutes. Liquor, aroma and taste is similar, no overdone or “burnt” flavor of the oolong. Still wonderful.
Third infusion, same three horns, brewed hot, 2 minutes. Liquor is slightly lighter, but aroma and flavor remain unchanged.
This tea is so wonderful that it can only be harmed by additions. Absolutely wonderful-highly recommended.
Preparation
I was supposed to win this from them on their facebook but I haven’t gotten it yet! I’m so excited to try it! I chose it because I am a HUGE Unicorn collector and just HAD to try it! LOL
I love unicorns too (I used to collect them when I was younger, now I collect teacups and teapots… LOL) but this tea looks incredible.
Wow! This tea took a while to get to me, they shipped it on May 30, it arrived at my house last Friday and they wanted a signature, so I had to go get it today – no worries – it’s on the way :)
Have a wonder-filled birthday and a fantastical year (starting out with unicorns is probably a good thing) :D
