Adding a discontinued tea to the database - good? bad? ugly?

Is there any etiquette about/against inputting a “new” tea into the database when one knows it’s no longer available? (Assuming of course that one makes sure to write in the description that the tea was discontinued.)

I have half a tin of a discontinued mint verbena tea that I really like. I’d like to add at least one sipping note as a reminder that mint+verbena is a tasty combination and would be something to look for under another brand when I eventually run out of what I have.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. On one hand it gives us info on the blender and wether that style of tea might interest us. I have added teas that are not necessarily easily obtainable as well for similar reasons in that it gives me a personal record of a style of tea or type of tea and my impressions of it which sometimes guide my future purchases.

I’ve done it – just because a tea isn’t currently available doesn’t mean people don’t have it in their collections or want to know about it. Especially given the harvest sensitivity of some teas.

I don’t see why not. It still exists, others may have it, and it may someday exist again. Also your notes on a discontinued tea might help others when looking for similar types of that tea.

More info is always better, especially if you’re clear that it’s discontinued1

Saw you decided, but for the general answering I agree with the above answers and have actually recently done so with redoing my cupboard.

Between additional data on the company’s work, that others may own it but haven’t checked out here yet on it but does, tea sharing, et cetera I think it’s worth it.
