Can something be done about all the spam?
I had joined Steepster few years ago and then soon stopped for some reason. Now I’m getting back into tea more seriously and decided to check out this site again, only to find the whole front page of the Discussions full of spammers, scammers or worse. What’s up with that? Is there a way to sort this out?
I just cleared a bunch. I try to get them in the morning before work. I know there are others that help it too. Mornings are usually full on nonsense.
Thanks for doing that annoying work! I wanted to report them myself, but I wasn’t able to figure out the way to do it. Is the only way through that “report anything inappropriate” link above the comment field?
There are some admins around who can ban them. or rather we send them into a queue that once processed will leave them banned. Unfortunately, if the account is older, it doesn’t allow us to use the power.
I’ve never been on a forum where it’s users manage/report spam to the degree I’m seeing here. Where are the site owners/admins and what actions can they take to stop the spam? This is a losing battle, a distraction from normal site content, and quite honestly, disrespectful to the users. Not trying to be rude here – but if you own this site, you should be managing this as a top priority. That said, I do appreciate the efforts of everyone to erase the damage, but it’s not a solution.
