Waking Up Easier
Now it goes without saying that drinking tea in the morning is something that can add some extra pep to your morning routine, and help you start focusing at the beginning of the day. But one thing I have noticed, is that if I drink chamomile tea before going to bed, that I actually am waking up more restful and able to pull myself out of bed each morning.
And the weird thing is that for the past few weeks, weeks that I haven’t been drinking chamomile tea before bed, I overslept my alarm by two hours on average. And no matter how early I went to bed, I just couldn’t drag myself out of bed before 9.
But this week so far, before bed I have had a nice cup of chamomile tea, and even if I only have four hours of sleep, I can actually wake up easier than when I didn’t have the tea and had eight hours of sleep.
I don’t think my quality of sleep is particularly different, but being able to get to work by 8:30 instead of 10 AM is definitely a plus.
Chamomile is a caffeine free herbal tea that is reported to help calm and soothe. It is commonly used to help promote sleep. I drink my own herbal mix of red rooibos, peppermint, lavender, and chamomile before bed and I sleep better as well.
Glad to hear that it helps you have a more restful sleep!
Yeah I know that it helps soothe and sedate. I wouldn’t have been so chill when my mom visited me for a week without the stuff.
I just didn’t expect that a 3-4 hour’s rest after tea would feel better than 8 hours rest with no tea before sleep.
I do want to try this now, perhaps in a blend since I’m not super wild about chamomile on it’s own.
I’ve noticed a nice white tea is great before bed.
Dear JubJubs, I read this a week ago and since then I’m doing the same thing. I have had a huge Milford family package in my cupboard for ages and it has only been used by barely a half. Where I come from, chamomile is being drunk only when people are sick :) so your advice came in handy to use up the chamomile stash and probably get a new one soon (maybe even loose type!) Yes, I can say that my sleep is better (going asleep, duration and quality of sleep, waking up). Thanks!
