Nashville Tea Shop... "Music City Tea"

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the group and live in Nashville, TN. Nashville has had a few decent tea places in the past but most don’t seem to last. We also have a Teavana, but am not really interested in overpriced artificially flavored teas. I stumbled across a local place online while searching for a Gongfu set, Music City Tea. They are located in Franklin, TN which is a city just outside of Nashville. It is run by a young lady named Jinlan who is from the Fujian Province in China. She apparently ran a tea shop in China and her family has been growing and manufacturing Tea there for several generations. I am eager to go visit this weekend and pick up a Gongfu set as well as some teas. I was curious if there are others from Nashville on this forum or if anyone has had any experience with Music City Tea, either in shop or online. I also thought, if there were others from Nashville I would mention this place… as tea shops in Nashville can be hard to locate. Here is her website:

She also has several videos on youtube:

Thanks, I look forward to exploring this site more as well as expanding my tea selection.

I wish I’d known about this when I visited last fall. If I ever get that way again, I’ll have to check it out!

Thanks so much for the heads up—been unsuccessful looking for a good tea shop around Memphis but sometimes I’m around Nashville for shows. Will check out the next time I get a chance!

I don’t live in Nashville, but I go up to Nashville and Franklin fairly often! I am so excited to find out about Music City Tea!! Thank you so much! There is one place I stop fairly often in the historic area in Franklin and it is called Franklin Tea. Here is their website in case you are interested. http://www.franklintea.com/ I am definitely excited to check out Music City Tea though! The website looks pretty interesting!

I had a chance to swing by Music City Tea this weekend. I absolutely loved it!! Jenny, the owner is wonderful… very friendly and eager to turn you on to her teas. She sat down with us and made us 9 or 10 different teas to try, each one wonderful. The last tea we tried she made me brew with the Gaiwan…smile. She also educated us on her village in China and their history of tea. All of the teas were so wonderful we had a hard time choosing. We ended up picking up a Gaiwan set, a seasoned Yixing pot, as well as lazy man’s Gaiwan brew pot. We ended bringing home Black Dragon Oolong, Dong Ting Oolong. Three Treasure Oolong, Jasmine Dragon Pearls, Osmanthus Dragon Pearls and Genmaicha. Each one of the teas are just wonderful. I will actually be heading back today to pick up a few more necessities, some more tea and a birthday gift. If you live in Nashville or visit please visit and support this wonderful shop. She has only been open 2 months and I would love to see her succeed. Nashville desperately needs a shop like this. I for one will be frequenting this shop as often as I can. In general I prefer to purchase things locally if I can… especially if I can get good tea.
