How soon do tea companies get their teas after harvest
I kind of want to get more tea but I also want to get tea that has been recently plucked rather than tea from last year’s harvest. From “The Tea Enthusiast Handbook,” I saw that harvest for green teas begins in the middle of March so my question to the experienced tea drinkers here is how soon do tea companies get their teas after the scheduled harvest, this especially pertains to teavivre and butiki teas since I want to buy from them.
i know with both of those companies, if you contacted them via email they’d be more than happy to give you an estimate for when they specifically anticipate getting seasonal harvests in. i’m pretty sure verdant would too. good tea shops often will.
Hi mars1-For us it really depends on the tea. For the vast majority of Chinese, Taiwanese, Indian, and Kenyan teas that we sell we will receive the tea within a few weeks of harvest. We choose to have our high-end teas air shipped, which is pretty expensive but means that the teas will arrive in about a week.
