10 Tasting Notes

This is a lovely change from weeks of drinking shin-cha green tea. Clear and flavorful. A bit light, but I also missed the in-package instructions to steep at boiling instead of 195. Multiple resteeps, consistent flavor every time. I love how the tea expands into WHOLE leaves! Overall, very good presentation, lovely flavor.

Yum! I liked this tea the instant I opened the sample pack. Lovely smell. Fruity, maybe? Brews clean, tastes good.

Hmm, interesting. I think I’ve had a tea like this before, a long time ago. It’s nice. Reminds me of happy memories. Amusingly enough, they’re mellow memories. Light cinnamon aftertaste. Neat.

It’s a nice white tea. I’m learning that I don’t like light flowery teas. So this really isn’t my style. But I don’t have any technical complaints about it – good flavor, complex, etc. Better than the average random tea. Brewed twice.

I’m thinking of ordering from Upton and was wondering what you thought about their service? I just received their quarterly catalog and they sure have lots of tea to choose from.

I got my tea in 3 business days with the cheap shipping method, and they responded to my question about “grams vs. teaspoons” within a couple hours. So far, excellent. I also ordered 20 sample packs :)

Thanks for the info, my shipping may be faster as I could drive there in 3 hours.

So amazing. Must find more. Like drinking a cup of summer water. Raised my expectations for green tea.

For those who are especially motivated, I was told to brew this by putting one tablespoon in an ounce of cold water for 2 minutes, and then add a cup of hot water and immediately decant. That certainly worked out okay, though I also enjoyed it brewed for a most excellent flavor.

The best I can say is that it was nondescript. I’ve tried steeping for twice as long and using twice as much tea and I still can’t seem to get a good flavor out of it. Oh well.

I enjoyed every cup of Thomas Sampson, even though it gives me the caffeine jitters afterwards. For the last cup I used honey and a splash of coconut milk to soften the blow of running out. They’re not kidding about stopping at 4 minutes. I left it a few seconds extra and it was definitely a few seconds over. Still, a lovely tea.
