It’s pretty much my mission in life to take all my friends to Clancy’s. Their teas are from the Granville Island Tea company, which is local. I love their menu, because you can add extra sandwiches and scones to their high teas for not very much extra. You can even go with non-tea lovers (they have coffee and juice as well), and they serve lunch (not just high tea). Very simple atmosphere, kinda feels like having tea in your grandmother’s kitchen.

This is probably the most affordable place I’ve gone to for High Tea and I quite enjoyed my visit there today.

The finger sandwiches (cucumber, salmon and egg) were quite creamy, which I liked. The scone was deliciously flaky without being crumbly and the jam (raspberry, I believe) was smooth and flavorful without being too sweet. The top tier had two of the day’s dessert selection; a little lemon meringue tart which had the best pastry crust I’ve had in awhile and a slice of carrot cake with a delicious cream cheese icing.

The tea selection was varied without being overwhelming, and a small pot is included with the High Tea. I chose their Creamy Earl Grey (since I’m looking for a decent replacement for my Teaopia blend) but when – not if – I go back I’ll probably try the Market Spice or Maple Cream.

The parlor itself is eclectically decorated but welcoming with about a dozen tables. I don’t believe that reservations would be required if one were in the mood for a quick lunch. According to their website, they also do High Tea ‘To-Go’.
