From Tealeaves

First blended for the Four Seasons Hotels, this blend is crisp and sweet, without a hint of asperity. Estate China green tea, perfumed with the essence of freshly plucked ripe pears.

This tea was first blended to show how meticulous artisan blending techniques can properly balance medium-tannic Young Hyson green teas (mountainous harvests) with the character of fruits. Pears are one of the world’s most popular fruits, having been cultivated in China for millennia. In this tea, natural pear enhances the green tea’s soft, slightly-tannic tones. Great served iced or hot!

Sweet memories of childhood. Closing my eyes, I am eleven again, sitting in the arms of a pear tree, eating the ripe fruit, not a care in the world. A moment captured in time, fleeting yet enduring, contained within the steeping tealeaves. I stare into my teacup as the melee in front of me turns into a screen leading back to memory lane.

“We use some of the teas for smoking our food products and the flavor they pick up is great, especially the combination of Pear and Berry with our Duck Breast.” – ICON Calvin Belknap

For a pear-fect concoction, you’ve made the “ripe” pick! The menage of pear and green tea is an interesting conundrum – and with this blend, the proper expression of this tea necessitates a quick infusion time for a more fruitful future!

The Master Blender suggests a 30-60 second infusion time to strike the balance between achieving a rich depth and avoiding bitterness.
