So DH hears me talking about this, and orders from Teavana, of all places. Would have liked it direct from Breville, i.e. any issues: Teavana put a very clearly worded note in the box, NOT to contact them if it needed to be returned, whatever… For me this was a splurge item and would not have purchased it on its merits on my own. It looked like an overpriced hot pot I had in college.
After a month of use I must say that I love it, and it is a pretty awesome appliance. I love tea and have for my entire life so to get to play with exact temps and times without much fussing is really nice. So except for the price, about $270 w shipping and taxes, I am very happy with it. Does what it says, and does it well. Only wish it would hold temp longer than 1 hr. esp. as I like to make a large amount and drink it thru the day.

This is probably the best gadget ever invented! I use it (I’d say) at least once, maybe even twice a week to make tea. It makes making tea so easy and fun. It even boils water faster too! It’s easy to clean and I love watching the tea being made. It really is a must for all tea lovers.

When I first this I went yay, finally I can brew tea in the correct temp. I have a cat. she like to knock things off table, counter etc. I was afraid. she might knock down a tea pot and get hurt.
thought I wish the price is not that steep. hubby though I lost my marbles went I insist on getting the tea maker.

I asked my sweet husband for this for Christmas and he remembered!!! I’ve only used it a few times so far but I love it. I am still learning the correct amount of tea. So far each time the tea has been a little weak so I just need to keep experimenting. I love the “keep warm” feature so I can have a cup while I get ready for work and then take a to go cup.

I LOVE my Husband!!! He got this for me as a present. I really, really, really wanted it but felt bad asking for it or buying it for myself. I showed it to him while in Teavana and he went back and got one for me. He said he shopped around for it and the price was the same every where. Teavana seemed to have the best return policy-after reading reviews and talking with them about it. Williams Sonoma was a close second but he felt that since Teavana introduced it to me, he would patronize them.
I can think of nothing but CONS for this machine. It is a dream for brewing different teas. I will note, that yesterday, I tried to brew a cup and it would not start. I almost cried, how sad is that! So, I looked at the kettle and wiped it down. I took it off the base and wiped it off too. I let it ‘dry’ for a couple hours and then tried it again. BaBam-it worked, and I danced! Lesson learned-do not get water near the base, be extra careful about this.
I absolutely LOVE my Breville. It is the best, just like my Husband!

I have finally acquired this beautiful machine about a week ago. I have yet to gave a bad cup of tea from it. Now, this may be because I already know my teas and exactly how I like them. But it is absolutely wonderful to wake up to the perfect cup of tea every morning. And because it is so easy to use and clean and the pot is glass, I’m actually able to enjoy more tea than previously with my DAVIDsTea Steeper.

Pros:
- Perfect cup of tea every time since it always has the exact right water temperature and never over-steeps or under-steeps.
- Auto-start timer so that tea can be ready for drinking at whatever time your little heart desires.
- Keep warm feature keeps your tea at temp for an hour.
- “Lower Basket” feature to steep again for any amount of time, i.e. no timer, after the steeping process is finished (see the cons section for more on this)
- Allows you to customize the water temp (in 5 degree inctements) and steep time (in 30 second increments). This is wonderful for me because I prefer to steep my black teas in 205 degree water rather than 212.

Cons:
- Keep warm feature has no beep to signal that your hour is up. The display turns off and the tea starts cooling. So you do have to pay attention to this.
- The auto-start feature can’t save the current time, so it has to be set every single time. Now, this really only takes about 45 seconds, but it’s kinda frustrating that such a magical machine can’t keep the current time in memory.
- The lower basket feature doesn’t have a timer, so it is extremely easy to over-steep the tea here. I’ve only used it once, and I don’t see it being a commonly used feature for me.

All in all, definitely worth the money!

This is absolutely my favorite thing in my kitchen. I bought one on a steep discount (I used to work at Teavana) as a birthday gift to me, but if this one ever dies, I’ll happily shell out full retail price for its replacement.

I just can’t say enough good things about my Breville. Having the ability to control my water temperature is a dream, especially since I tend to like temperature-sensitive teas, and it’s great that the water heats as fast as it does. I’ve had mine for months, and the magic of the basket lowering and raising itself still hasn’t worn off.

My one warning with this is not to get too excited about the “Keep Warm” function. If you drink blacks and oolongs (and greens too, probably), the “Keep Warm” function keeps the water hot enough to continue to brew the tea, even though the basket has been raised. The result – bitter tea. What I do with mine is drink what I want, let it cool down, and then just reheat whatever tea is left for a second mug later in the day. This doesn’t seem to cause the same issue.

I just love my Breville. If you’re drinking at least 16oz of tea a day, you need one of these. Seriously.

Well well ,on the outside this tea machine looks great lots of great features ,, lots of good reviews , check out the u-tube vids.
But atlass this is not the machine for me , let me explain ,
This machine is probably ok if you enjoy full fermented tea , black , red , assam, tetley, red rose, lipton. etc. where the tea is very strong.

It seems to me that the strong tea will mask the “chemical taste” that the breville leaves in the pot of tea. but if your a fan of white , green , matcha, and even oolong tea you can detect the chemical left in the tea pot.
I Started to be in denial re the chemical taste, for i payed $300 Canadian dollars for this fancy machine IT MUST BE A Fantastic Machine ,,.. but after a while even some friends were noting it ( the funny taste).
so i contacted the manufacture, and they indicated it was the “new smell” of the machine . So as instructed i cleaned it out with vinegar , then baking soda ,many many times yet still the taste was there. Breville sent me another two of these machines .. to no avail they all tasted funny with all light teas. I wish this wasn’t the case , what i use it for is a variable kettle for my teas now.

I suspect that it’s the large silicone gasket that separates the german made glass carafate section to the heating base.
Has any one noted this ?? am I just crazy ?? … wait don’t answer that.
need feedback .,, ollie
