Why I discontinued Huang Zhi Xiang Phoenix Mountain Oolong

I didn’t read the original TTB thread, and based on some of the notes in this thread, I doubt I’ll try to work my way through it. I can understand why a tea seller wouldn’t want a tea he’s discontinued to be in what some might see as a “promotional” box. Perhaps things could have been handled better, but I’ve loved the teas I’ve gotten from Whispering Pines and the service I’ve received, and I’ll be happy to order again.

It’s not a promotional box. It’s a bunch of steepster friends who decided to share teas – you add whatever you like and take out whatever you like.

It wasn’t supposed to promote any company individually, and had nothing to do with the vendors. Even if those teas were discontinued, they are unflavoured teas and similar to other teas that are out there, so they are still good to try – if someone really enjoyed that oolong, they would know they would want to try one from somewhere else. And Dian Hongs are fairly common.

For those who are interested in the original TTB, the discussion isn’t that long and starts here: http://steepster.com/discuss/7579-great-canadian-travelling-tea-box-round-3-sign-ups-closed-june-2014?page=7

I agree with yyz that this was simply a misunderstanding of the purpose of TTBs in general. I’m sorry, Brenden, that I confused you by describing the purpose of my promotional TTB and made you think that all TTBs were that way. My only experience with you has been through that TTB that you so generously provided samples for and through instagram, but you do seem like an upstanding honest guy. I think you’re handling it very well and bravely by addressing the issue publiclly here and on a website. Hopefully the whole thing will blow over soon and I hope you don’t lose much trust and customers based off this misunderstanding.
