Tea shop in MD/DC?

I’m looking for a good shop not far from 20772. I’m not fond of DC and try to avoid it when possible. I’m from Texas originally, have been in the area about a year. Any suggestions?

I’m also open to online suggestions, if you have any. Just prefer a shop.

Capital Teas is in 2 locations in Bethesda. I wasn’t very successful on my trip to DC in finding tea shops but Capital Teas is a good one with high quality tea.

You’ll find tons of online suggestions here. :)

This is the only well-known place in DC that I’m aware of. I don’t get to the city much – I’m in Northern VA

If you are willing to travel as far as Williamsburg, Va there is an excellent tea shop called Discover Teas. I believe their website is www.discoverteas.com

There is another little tea shop in Williamsburg that doesn’t sell as many teas and its more touristy, called I think Spice and Tea or something like that. Its just outside the historic area where Discover Teas in nearer to Busch Gardens.

I’m so glad you asked this Julie! I am just about to move to that area in the Fall and am now super excited about visiting these shops… and thinking we need a Steepster DC area gongfu party sometime!

Iniquity, I’ll have to check for a meet up. I never thought to check, thanks!

AllanK I’ll check that one out, also!

Phi I haven’t had any dancong, yet. I’ve been stuck in black teas recently. But, I’m sure I’ll get there eventually. :)

@looseTman I think you just became my new best friend!! I moved here from Texas and haven’t made any friends in the area, and the people I know don’t know anything about tea. This area has been a barren wasteland to me and you just sent me to several oases!

I’m so excited!! I can’t wait to explore these!!

Welcome to the Nation’s Capitol, the Baltimore/Washington Metro area, and the Mid-Atlantic region! We can’t have you being bored! :-D

http://steepster.com/places is a good resource for local shops and tearooms. After exploring the local area, you’ll have to let us know which tea shops were your favorite(s).

And don’t miss Steepster’s favorite online suppliers: http://steepster.com/teas – The world’s best teas delivered right to your home!
