cold brew re-steep?

Has anyone who does cold brew tea re-steeped it? I re-steep my hot tea like you have no idea. But I’ve never re steeped cold brew. Just figured I wouldn’t get much more out of it. I may be wrong. So if you’ve re-steeped cold brew, let me know what kind of results you’ve gotten and if it’s worth doing it. Thank you in advance

I’ve been cold-brewing a lot for the first time this summer, and I think it really depends on what you’re drinking. some teas’ll get you a few good steeps, others might only be good for one, but I think it’s always worth trying! Might as well get the most out of the tea you’re paying for

I tried cold brew resteeping Watermelon Baozhong. Strangely, I got more watermelon on the resteep than tea.

Yes, I got the same thing! I actually prefer the re-steep to the initial one. How long were your steeps?

That’s common with flavored teas in my experience. The tea’s own flavor gets extracted during the first steep leaving more of the added flavoring on resteep.

I cold brewed them overnight in the fridge, so anywhere between 12 and 24 hours. I never pay attention to time when I cold brew.

that’s interesting I did two steeps with it and on the second did not get much watermelon flavor.

I usually resteep oolongs. Some of the tighter rolled ones aren’t even fully opened up after the 1st steep.

Try hot steeping rolled oolongs for 1 minute prior to cold steeping. It opens up the leaves and makes the cold steep more flavorful.

I’ll keep that in mind but I’m cold brewing now to keep from turning on the stove. 90F in here and no AC :(

Sencha can be resteeped if you keep the first infusion short, under 3 hours.

I only cold brew leaves I’ve already hot steeped out. I use the fridge tea method with spent leaves and I leave them in the jar and just top it up with water as I drink from it. I use green tea or yellow tea.

Thank you to everyone. I will give it a try to re steep cold brews to see how it goes.

I’ve had variable results with resteeping cold brews – some flavoured teas and oolongs work pretty well, sometimes you end up with vaguely tea-flavoured water. Sometimes I’ll take the leaves from my cold brew and resteep them with hot water, which works pretty well.
