Tins for Tea Storage

I recently ordered some of the flat, square tins from Specialty Bottle that were linked above. I really like them because they stack nicely in my cabinet. I use masking tape and write the name of the tea on the side of the tin.

Be careful with masking tape. It is fine for short duration, but over a few months the adhesive sets and is very difficult to remove. I use a 3M product that is similar to post-it notes, but covers the entire surface with an adhesive that is about twice as strong as post-its. It stays in place until you want to remove it then comes off easily.

I’d recommend the TenRen tins which are double sealed (except for the 2 oz) with a knobbed press down inner lid and a top that slides down over that. They are sturdy and attractive stainless steel with no logo, and an unobtrusively embossed Chinese tea themed designs. They have from 2, 4,6,8,12,16 oz tins, at $6, $8, $10, $12, $15, $18 respectively. A bit more than some others but will last a lifetime of tea drinking
