some teas are high in carbs....

I have been doing a low carb diet for a couple of weeks now and was shocked to find that some teas from David’s Tea have up to 4 g of carbs per cup. Considering I am eating 25 carbs per day that is reaaaaaly high. I am so sad. I was messing up my diet without even realizing it. I found that many of the fruity teas are bad, as are the " desserty" ones.

Well, fruit does have carbs. And the chocolate teas would too.

Of course, I understand that fruits are high in carbs. I just did not realize how high they would be in a cup of tea. I would have assumed it would have been negligible.

I find some of the fruity blends are more fruit than tea, and since the fruits are dried, they are probably much bigger chunks of fruit to start with. That probably adds up to quite a bit of sugar. Also, I think some David’s teas also has actual candy bits too.

It’s a good thing you found out I guess? There are some unflavored or less-flavored options which might be better.

I don’t watch out for carbs in my tea but I watch out for anything with Gluten. Usually teas have no gluten and occasionally are certified as Gluten Free but I have to watch out for it. I feel your pain.
