After a long hiatus from posting, I return with Harney & Sons’ Supreme Breakfast.

I find it to be a balanced tea, not too spicy and not too smoky, and just a little bit of the English Breafkast “old farmhouse wood” body. This tea is more of a chord of flavors, rather than a distinct, clear tone from a dedicated Assam or what have you. Balanced, as I said. It was quite welcome on this gray, overcast morning.

A classic flavor, not dolled up with hints of this or essences of that. A splash of milk, and a gray morning if you can manage it, adds to the experience.

Burning midnight oil, pausing to prepare and consume a cup of sencha. A calming but energizing flavor, and preparation in a kyusu provides a refreshing break from the computer screen.

The tea itself is grassy with a slight astringency at the finish, a pleasant aroma, a green-gold liquor. Amazing quality for the price.

Brisk, with a little bitterness, but not overpowering in bitterness. A great “get me through this mess of an afternoon” pause.

Trying this with a breakfast of haiga rice topped with an egg. I am finding this much more comforting and stimulating than black tea this morning. Maybe I should have this with breakfast every day instead of a black tea. But, I’m not sure how it would match up with my usual oatmeal breakfast.

Heaven in a cup. The jasmine scent is fantastic, the white tea is delicately flavored. Breathe deep, savor the aroma, experience the flavor before drinking it down. Peace, rest, another world, away from life. A slight breeze rustling through trees, echoes of nature rebounding off a hilly valley. If I say any more I’ll embarrass myself (even more than I already have).
