drank Li Shan by Harney & Sons

I probably steeped this too long (close to 2 minutes), so it’s a lot more vegetal than I expected. That’s not a bad thing; this has a very smooth mouthfeel and even with the more floral tastes coming out, I smiled after my first sip. I am tasting some creaminess, as well, though. I like this.

drank Sour Cherry Serenade by Teavana

Sadly the end of my sample of this. I realize now that though I usually loathe hibiscus, this is one blend that it works exceptionally well in. I guess my real issue with hibiscus is that it’s thrown into teas and make them unintentionally sour. This is meant to be sour, anyway, so it works.

For the first time in a long time, had a chance to make tea before work. Wanted something sweet. Yum.

The last bags of my first box – only one box to go until I’m out of this until next Christmas. I was sad to find that apparently I did miss out on one of the holiday teas, Nutcracker Sweet. I could’ve sworn I bought it, but it’s not in my cupboard. Maybe it will reappear in a strange place.

Janefan

send me a PM if you still want the Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride. I don’t want anything in return, just want to clear out mu cupboard and send it to a good home!

Jillian

Well it it turns out that you don’t have any Nutcracker Sweet PM me and I’ll mail you a few bags. :)

Hm.. so the last time I had this I had just come home from a workout and it dehydrated me quickly. This time I’m beginning to see why, as this is drying out my tongue something fierce. Lots of tannins. I like the cocoa and cardamom flavor, but it’s too harsh overall.

JacquelineM

Do you ever take tea with cream and sugar? I think this one especially benefits from those additions.

Bethany

Every so often I do cream, but never sugar. I actually still have enough for a cup or so, so I’ll go grab that creamer!

Got good news on my possible health problem today.. yay! Hopefully the test results will prove even better.

To celebrate, an old favorite. I’m almost out of my 4 oz. bag already. I’ve never run out of a 4 oz. bag.. ever. So this must mean something good.

JacquelineM

That’s so good to hear!

drank Coconut Chai by Zhi Tea
355 tasting notes

Again, this is very good – nice and sweet, but not overpowering, and you definitely taste the coconut – but it’s very mild for a chai.

IdentiTEA

A mild chai, you say? Did you add milk or drink it straight up?

Bethany

Straight up. I made it once with milk before, and it was even milder.

IdentiTEA

Awesome. I’ve been on the look out for a mild chai… because with most of the chai’s I’ve had, it seems like they just throw a bunch of cloves at you and call it “spiced”… uh, no. I’ll have to look into this one. Thanks for posting the note.

Bethany

Yes, it’s definitely good, just a bit mild for me. Zhi’s Kashmiri Chai is very similar, but with a green base and no coconut. I’d recommend them both.

denisend

Tavalon has a mild chai as well (I think it’s the vanilla that smooths it out) – the Kama Chai Sutra. I like a strong chai, so I didn’t rate it very high, but for a mild chai with the traditional spice blend it may be what you’re looking for. If you wait until Tavalon is featured in the Steepster Select, you can use the 20% off coupon, too!

drank Pu-erh Vanilla Mint by Rishi Tea
355 tasting notes

Thanks to Ricky for a sample of this!

I was genuinely scared of this one, though I had no reason to be. The only other pu-erh I’ve tried was another Rishi one, their Pu-Erh Blood Orange, and it was really, really good. But I’ve been holding off on this one for awhile nonetheless.

I’m sad that I waited this long, because this is fantastic. The mint is the prominent smell, but the taste is a wonderful blend of mint, creaminess (from the vanilla), and cinnamon. There are some minor cocoa notes, too. I don’t really get any earthiness from the pu-erh, though.

Might at least buy a sample of this next time I make a Rishi order.

Ricky

Glad you liked this one =]

Cofftea

It’s been recommended that I try these 2 as well. I also want to try the strawberry one from Teavana. If you like chocolate you gotta try Numi’s Organic Chocolate Pu Erh. I had the bagged version, but it also comes in loose leaf.

Bethany

@Cofftea Are you talking about Teavana’s Strawberry Slender? I’d definitely recommend it. It’s very good.

Cofftea

Yep. That’s it.
