I love anything chocolate mint flavored, so when I was making my first order from David’s teas I had to try this one! The loose tea is adorable, with the chocolate chips and little candies. The smell is just like an Andes mint – quite minty! I steeped for 5 minutes at boiling, and then tested the tea plain.

Without additions there is a slightly bitter edge to the chocolate, and the mint comes across strongly. No real taste of the peppercorns. I’m actually surprised that the added bits don’t make it sweeter (I’m glad though, as I like to add my own.)

I added milk and a bit of sweetener. The milk brings out the chocolate even more – the mint is not dominating! It’s very smooth, and the taste is true – it really tastes like chocolate, which I don’t usually find to be the case with chocolate teas. The other chocolate mint tea I own (Harney and Sons Chocolate Mint) is more dominated by mint, so there is room for both in my cabinet. I’m pretty impressed – I hope I like the other teas from my order just as much!

I’m pretty new to the world of tea! I took up tea drinking to help control my coffee consumption, but it seems that I have just created another sort of monster!

I like strong flavors and bold teas. My favorites types include Scottish Breakfast, Earl Grey, and roasted mate. I have recently discovered a love for dessert teas, and my obsession with mint is ongoing.

I am a professional singer, and I’ve had a habit of drinking peppermint and throat coat teas leading up to any performance. I have too many cats and too many hobbies. I blog about sewing and knitting my own clothes (and, most recently, about tea!)
