Additional notes: So this is an old favorite from years ago. But I bought a few sample sizes of my favorites from Fusion for their Black Friday sale. And sadly, I’m starting to see that fresh “harvests” of the new teas just don’t seem to be as fresh as I remember them tasting years ago when I first bought them. If I’m being unclear: these new pouches taste like my years old pouches. Not good. This one is almost unbearable now. Mostly the blend is full of rooibos and it’s the kind that seeps through the teabag I steep it in. Usually nothing gets through these teabags. Now this blend just seems like a scratchy to my throat rooibos with only hints of lime. Hmm. Many of these new samples do not taste as fresh as I remember these delicious Fusion teas were the first time around. I could almost brew up my old pouch of this and have it taste better. (Except for maybe the coconut.) I’m not saying the blends have seemed like different blends yet…. I just mean not fresh. This isn’t amusing seeing as how the sample sizes went down and the price went up. Though Fusion was generous before (I think it was once $2 for a 10 teaspoon sample or something?) I’m just very glad that I didn’t stock up on three ounce pouches of teas that just don’t seem the same. I will commend Fusion for keeping all of their blends in stock that I love though.

I ordered from Fusion sometime in the fall of 2017 I believe, and they were already the very small sampler sizes by then. I’m sad I missed out on 10 teaspoon samplers, because a lot of their teas have so many ingredients in them that if you don’t get a really good mix what ends up in the sampler itself might not even be very indicative of the flavor of the tea. I only had two servings in my Winter Solstice sampler, and both cups ended up tasting very different. It just wasn’t big enough to get a proper mix/blend of the ingredients, and I’m not entirely sure everything from the blend was even included in that little sample.

Yeah, you’re entirely right. Many of Fusion’s blends can’t have small samples since some ingredients are so big. I remember the Winter Solstice definitely has some big ingredients there!

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! Many of my teas have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

I’m always in search of: Hattialli, Qu Hao black, Jin Jun Mei, teas using marshmallow root.

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), turmeric, bee pollen, charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites – cupboard essential
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
50-65 – Okay
1-50 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. (Or as evidenced by the great computer hiatus of 2019, something happened to my computer… I have a dumb phone so can’t access internet on that. As of 12/20/21 my wifi might start getting unreliable.)

Happy sipping!
