Alphakitty split some of this with be from Ovation’s closeout sale a while back. (Hope you and yours are doing well!) I’m not sure why I’m just now writing a tasting note for this one. I love the giant pineapple chunks and blueberries. My infuser had two pineapple chunks but no blueberries. I remember this one tasting fruitier last time… I hope it isn’t already aging too much! But I love the flavor anyway… it’s a nice green base. The pineapple taste is very subtle this time around… hardly any blueberry. Definitely no fake flavoring though. Unless I needed to get more pineapple and blueberries in the blend, this one lost some of its magic.

I put three fairly decent sized tea packages together for sale and added teas to TWO teaboxes and it hardly seems to have made a dent in my tea stash! Yikes! Hopefully that is just because I was parceling out most of the teas.

One of the last remaining I want to try from the HH teabox (that I’m not taking out completely). This was actually quite delicious for a herbal tea! First the dry leaves are amazingly pretty and fresh looking! A lot of pinks and greens. After steeping with boiling water for a few minutes, the flavor is sweet, minty, and a bit like the chrysanthemum tea I had the other day. I’m itching to keep the little bit left of this out of the teabox but I want to share it with others… maybe they will also see how nice herbal teas can be!

Yay! Me next :D

Additional notes: The end of my Tea from Taiwan samples! I would certainly shop at Tea From Taiwan whenever I want to stock up on unflavored oolongs! The three I tried are actually very unique.

Additional notes: I tried to get as many peanutty pieces in my teaspoon this time and steeped at boiling for seven minutes. Still not much peanut flavor, sadly. Maybe a bit more than last time when I wasn’t trying to get as many pieces in my teaspoon. I tried!

A sample that the awesome Butiki sent me a while back. I’m hungry and this tea seemed it would be the most like food. haha. I think I waited for the water to cool too long though. I did steep two teaspoons for four minutes (one teaspoon didn’t seem like enough… the big potato pieces!) I don’t get very much potato flavor, but there is a hint of cinnamon apple. The green tea adds a bit of butteriness to the blend! Definitely need butter for potato pancakes! I feel like I failed this one somehow, since the rating is so high on Steepster! I certainly didn’t expect a very strong potato or apple flavor, since that would mean fake flavoring and Butiki definitely doesn’t do that. I guess I’ll just have to love all of Butiki’s other teas.

Butiki Teas

I think we may recommend 1 tablespoon. I wonder if that would help?

JustJames

i really need to try this at some point.

tea-sipper

Oh, I think I misread it as one teaspoon and not one tablespoon. But I used two teaspoons anyway! I think I let the water cool way too low for both steeps though.

From the HH teabox! Many odd ingredients here! Brewed, the steep color is light and the flavor is a bit tart and minty. I didn’t love the tart berries that I’ve had before. Not for me but seems healthy!

Another one I get to try from TastyBrew’s awesome package! I really appreciate it! I found some eggnog yogurt in the fridge in my dream last night, so I thought I’d try this one this morning! This one sure has a strong scent. The dry blend is long twisty black leaves with a few yellow flowers. To be honest, this one is very much like the pumpkin cheesecake. But they are both spicy dairy products, so maybe that is the case. I think the cheesecake has more of a flavor than the eggnog. This one has a bit of spice (again that mysterious spicy flavor while not actually having spices in it), not so much eggnog. Flavorful, I just couldn’t guess it was actually eggnog. It seems to have the same flavor both hot and cold which is odd for any tea. The black tea itself has a mid-level strength flavor profile. Light, yet still a bit dark. I like all three of the Necessiteas I’ve tried! (And oh man I want to try them ALLLL.) I can’t believe I had to add this one to the system… but it wasn’t even on NecessiTeas site!

gmathis

Eggnog yogurt? Oh, yum….what brand?

tea-sipper

Umm.. the yogurt brand in my head. :D

Additional notes: Sipdown! I still appreciate this one from a package Azzrian sent me a while ago. What happened to Azzrian? I haven’t seen any tasting notes from her in a while. Anyway, this one was still delicious. Somehow very buttery for some reason! I have no idea how this one was black, oolong and green because all of the leaves looked the same. I really should be drinking more Fusion teas… they are always so good.

Fusion Teas

We definitely think so too :) We have a lot of new additions with our new website design!

tea-sipper

Yes, I noticed the new design and new additions after I posted that tasting note yesterday. :D I think Fusion does the best blends though, so I hope you keep coming up with more of those.

drank Thai Chai by Adagio Teas

A sipdown from TeaboxB! Sorry about the avalanche of tasting notes lately! It has been mostly new-to-me teas lately! It has also been an avalanche of chai blends for me.. usually that happens when the colder weather hits. I think I love chai even more in the fall than I do in the winter. I love the name of this one. This one seems to be a chai with coconut and lemongrass in it. At first sip, this one seemed to be a little off tasting to me. It seemed like it had a coconut preservative flavor I don’t love. And the lemongrass seems weird in a chai (though I do love the lemongrass on its own that I just happened to try recently). This wasn’t terrible, but I guess I like chai with just black tea and spices. And the black tea didn’t seem terribly strong to me, even though there was way more than two teaspoons.

A big thank you to Single Origin Teas for these generous samples! I had no idea Single Origin Teas existed until they offered samples and their teas sound amazing. I went with this one first, since I was in the mood for a Darjeeling type flavor though this is NOT a Darjeeling – it is from Nepal. The dry leaf color is all over the place – greens, whites. After letting the water cool around ten minutes after boiling and a three to four minute steep, there was a very sweet and very fruity scent coming from the cup that I just knew would make this blend special. This has to be the sweetest and fruitiest type of Darjeeling flavor. The site description says maple and roses and there is certainly something sweet here, but I get STONE FRUIT. Plums, a hint of cherry. As it cools, I do notice the floral/rose notes. A very mouth filling flavor yet very delicate. Probably sweeter, fruitier, lighter than a typical Darjeeling and much more unique. I feel like this shouldn’t be classified as a black tea. This is absolutely amazing stuff. Like the Darjeeling I had earlier this month, these two blends have made me a fan of this kind of flavor if it is done right and this one is perfect. I’d stock this as my go-to “Darjeeling” flavor type, but I’m doing this tea a disservice because it isn’t technically Darjeeling. I think it’s better. It gets impossible when I want to drink my entire tea collection every day.

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! Many of my teas have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

I’m always in search of: Hattialli, Qu Hao black, Jin Jun Mei, teas using marshmallow root.

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), turmeric, bee pollen, charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites – cupboard essential
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
50-65 – Okay
1-50 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. (Or as evidenced by the great computer hiatus of 2019, something happened to my computer… I have a dumb phone so can’t access internet on that. As of 12/20/21 my wifi might start getting unreliable.)

Happy sipping!
