Sometimes I just feel like a nice, fruity cold drink without drinking pop or juice. This cold infuse is good for that purpose and when I am craving sugar, it fits the bill without making me feel guilty about consuming it because it isn’t terribly unhealthy or full of a lot of empty calories.
This is the second variety that I’ve tried in the line-up and even though I did enjoy it, it is weaker in the flavour department than the Mango & Passionfruit one. I would describe the taste as rather diluted but the mild strawberry and lemon flavour are still juicy and sweet enough.
Flavors: Fruity, Juicy, Lemon, Strawberry, Sweet
This is the second of the three Camomile-Honey-Vanilla teas I’m comparing tonight. (The others are Ahmad and Celestial Seasonings.) I brewed each at the same time, individual cups, poured quickly, consecutively, one bag to one cup.
This, the Twinings, was the middle one in color and strength. Of the three, I have to say I like the perfume of this one the best. The accent is on the camomile, not the honey, so it has a more delicate, perfumy quality, which I like. The honey and vanilla are there as pleasant undertones in the background, but not vying for attention.
This one, too, is a bit weaker than I’d like, but not disappointing. It seems delicate rather than outright watery.
At night I like to mix the flavor of this combo with white tea, for a perfect night time blend.
This is not as robust as the Celestial Seasonings, but it is a lovely blend, and I like it.
Flavors: Chamomile, Honey, Perfume, Sweet, Warm Grass, Vanilla

My mother-in-law is the type of person who will save vintage tea sets, antique martini shakers and ancient appliances. Looking for some tea for breakfast at her house, I found this tea. I took a photo of it because the copy on the tea bag was incredible. I brewed it and was certain that it would be stale because I was certain it was old – but it was lovely. It was full-bodied, dark and a little smokey, not as malty as I usually like for a breakfast tea but totally drinkable.
Flavors: Tannic
Preparation
I picked this up as a stocking stuffer for myself and others at Christmas. I thought it wouldn’t be the most fragrant tea ever, but Twinings makes solid black teas, so I shouldn’t be disappointed.
But I was. This tea was so bland. It is so flavourless. It is so forgettable. All of the flavour notes? I could barely taste anything other than some faint orange flavour. It is not worth the price and there are plenty of other orange/spice/cinnamon teas that are far superior and cheaper.
Flavors: Cardamom, Cinnamon, Clove, Flat, Orange, Tannin
Preparation
This is one of my go-to teas. I grew up with my Grandpa and Mother teaching me to drink black tea with lemon and sugar, so that’s how I prefer it. But tonight I’m drinking it black, to taste the tea itself. When it comes to a plain, satisfying black tea, Twinings Irish Breakfast is strong without being overwhelming, and it stands up nicely to whatever one chooses to put into it.
Tonight I’m comparing it to its sister, Twinings Irish Breakfast Decaf. Tastewise, this one is definitely fuller, deeper, and more complete. This is hardly surprising, since caffeine by itself is naturally bitter. So there are bound to be flavor notes in this regular cup that are missing in the decaffeinated version.
So grab this one in the morning, when that caffeine jolt is needed, with a thicker mouthfeel for a brisk beginning to your day. At night, you can still have that flavor, but in a more delicate fashion, when you’re trying to rest before bed. I usually make a pot of half & half. It’s the best of both worlds!
Flavors: Malt, Tea, Thick
Preparation
I’m testing this plain, no sugar, no lemon, so that I can just describe the tea itself. Twinings Irish Breakfast Decaf is one I always keep in my cupboard. I generally drink tea at night, so I need to watch my caffeine intake. I’m taste testing this against Twinings regular Irish Breakfast tonight.
Obviously, the Decaf is not as strong as the regular. There’s still a note of depth, but it’s far in the background when compared to regular Irish Breakfast. And that’s fine for evenings when one wants a nice cuppa that hits the spot, but isn’t going to make one twitchy when trying to fall asleep.
It’s not as strong in flavor or in depth of"oomph" as Irish Breakfast original. But it serves very well in a blend with herbal or even rooibos teas, when a deeper note is needed, but without a lot of caffeine. I usually make a pot of half this and half regular. I get to enjoy the depth of the original, with the lightness provided by this decaf. It’s a good balance.
Flavors: Malt, Tea

hmm, unsure of this one, it’s definitely not my favourite of the twinings fruit teas. it’s certainly fruity, but the hibiscus base seems to overpower the orangey flavour… like a hibiscus tea with orange peel? it’s not bad it’s just not the best, I suppose
Flavors: Hibiscus, Orange Zest

My mother-in-law loves this tea. It’s like the (1) tea she does actually drink. This tea is so elusive, though! I find it really hard to find on supermarket shelves and so I’ve tried a lot of similar Blackcurrant teas, but this one is probably the best. It’s the finest tasting, has a really smooth finish and a very delicate taste with nice body.
Flavors: Black Currant, Lemon, Sweet, Tannin
Preparation
It’s so fruity! it’s not particularly tea-like… It actually reminds me of hot squash, but it’s delightful in it’s own way with that. It’s very berry flavoured, I mostly get the blackcurrant but the blueberry is definitely in there as well. I’m not sure if it’s a particularly natural flavour, it seems a bit strong for that, but it does not have the giveaway “artificial” flavour, if that makes any sense at all.
Flavors: Berry, Black Currant, Fruity, Sweet, Tart
Preparation
not bad, pretty fruity. Clear pineapple flavour supported by a sharp ginger-y undertone. I am not sure it’s particularly helping me focus…if only that issue could be tamed by something as simple as a cup of tea
Flavors: Fruity, Ginger, Ginseng, Pineapple
Preparation
I am weird, for many reasons but one particular one is that I dislike the flavour of water. However, drinking water is good for you, so when I bring a bottle of water somewhere, I drop in a cold infuse tea bag. It’s still not my favourite, it’s a tad watery still but it’s much better drinking than the origional, and much healthier than fizzy drinks. I don’t pick up on the apple at all, but the blueberry is quite nice if a tad artificial. There is a slight note of soap that I find berry teas can have, but it does not stand out much.
Flavors: Artificial, Blueberry, Soap, Watery

Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – May 2023 Tea #1 – A tea available almost anywhere
Scouring the gallon bag of teas I brought with me to see if I had any May prompts I can fill. This one will work. I imagine this could be found anywhere. It’s Twinings. I DO always forget this is supposed to include vanilla though. I don’t hate this for a teabag, but I certainly wouldn’t pay $5 for it like I did for my Grandmother’s Throat Coat tea, like I did yesterday. I really need to find the Throat Coat in bulk. She likes it and it keeps her hydrated! $5 for 16 teabags is bonkers though.
