I should preface my review by saying that I have a nostalgia and a soft spot for Golden Snails (Bi Luo). A hero of mine introduced me to the tea and sourced a particularly delicious batch. I drank it all summer during my first year of becoming a teacher.

That being said Whispering Pines’ offering here is delicious. The batch is aromatic and flavorful and stacks up well against other Yunnan Blacks of similar varieties and production. It’s hearty and well balanced without being too strong. I was quite comfortable with the price, knowing the freshness and quality that I could expect from WP and Brenden. I’ve paid $.50 more an ounce for comparable Yunnans that were not as fresh or whose taste was less dramatic.

This was a great morning break. Nada was quiet and the tea was a great Matcha. Like the previous review I’d need a few more visits to really unpack the flavor.

I waited a year and a half to taste this tea. I stopped buying tea for three months so that I could get a cup when I as in Paris. It was all worth it. The aroma itself was worth it.

This was one of the 30 tea samples from MF that my wife bought me for my 30th birthday. It was delicious. A great balance between the tea and the fruit. With one sip Trader Joe’s Mango Black stopped tasting good.

This was a good black tea. Not incredibly memorable, nor better than Wedding Imperial or Pleine Lune, but a good flavored black tea in the chocolae, caramel flavor profile.

This is a great bagged Earl Grey. It captures the flavor and balance of a good Earl Grey. The vanilla is a great addition. I binge drank it for three days before slowing down.

A great winter/holiday tea. It’s a perfect balance of all the stuff that goes into Constant Comment without all the overbearing flavors and lackluster tea leaves. My wife said it was almost refreshing.

There is a lot going on with this tea. Flowers, fragrance, a little space.
